I think your being a bit harsh there. It depends on the country you live in off course, in this case, Ireland, it's not in your face compared to some US Cities. In Ireland ithe homeless are ashamed or social and respectful. "Invisible people" is a very fair title.

While there are those that will not give up on trying to get money, whether it be for food, drugs, shelter, or alcohol, there are those that simply wander the streets. No one takes notice of them. We in PDX have many homeless. Unless they are standing at the top of a freeway off-ramp or on the MAX platforms downtown, no one notices them. Some of them have even led interesting lives. Have you seen children out there? Like grade school aged children. They don't know about drugs and alcohol. They just know they want food and shelter.
