Ed Rendell (Governor of Pennsylvania - met him when I was like 7 and he was Mayor of Philadelphia, and yes he still remembers me)

Lou Dobbs (interned for him)

Anderson Cooper (passed him in the halls of CNN numerous times)

Larry King (briefly introduced to him)

Ted DiBiase (AKA - the Million Dollar Man - from wrestling) - met him at Sam's Pizza in North Wildwood, NJ

R. Lee Ermey ("Full Metal Jacket, Mail Call - worked on his security detail at a World War 2 airshow at Reading Regional Airport. Have several autographs, a challenge coin, a picture with him and his personal business card)

Tracy Morgan (SNL - performed at my school and signed autographs afterwards)

Matisyahu (Hasidic Jewish Reggae/rapper - performed at my school, got him to sign a CD for me [kinda helped that I was President of the Hillel chapter on campus])

Polly Holiday (actress)- I met her in a bookstore in Birmingham.

Billy Wilder (movie director)- I was introduced to him at an event in Atlanta. I'm sad to say that at the time, I had no idea at all who he was.

This could be interesting, quite a few of these are brief chats, I don't have any on speed dial! Some of these are probably only known to Brits!

Liev Schreiber - same flight
Queen Latifah - AA Flagship Lounge LAX
Reese Witherspoon - same flight
The Queen - came to visit my school
Margaret Thatcher - ditto
Prince Andrew - ditto
Prince Charles - ditto
Tony Blair - ditto
John Major - ditto
Sir Garfield Sobers - ditto
John Madejski - ditto
Simon Weston - ditto
Sir Steve Redgrave - Henley Regatta
Matthew Pinsent - Henley Regatta
Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber - a former neighbour of sorts
Ice T - was walking down Lexington Avenue right next to jim (he had some slutty woman just ahead of him) when some weirdo started talking nonsense to him. After he went away we both looked at eachother and said a 'WTF' type comment simultaneously.
Joe Strummer - his daughters were at school with me. My father and him got on pretty well.
Jonny Wilkinson - his school was a regular on the circuit against us and I was injured that week so volunteered to assist with the teams that came to visit us. He was captain of the 1st XV so I met them off the bus. The next time I saw him was on TV playing for England in the Five Nations when I was getting changed at the gym. I almost had a heart attack!

One of my maths teachers played rugby for England, at the time he was my maths teacher. It was kind of weird being taught algebra by a guy who I'd watch score a try live on TV a couple of days before!

I'm sure there are a few more I've forgotten...

Have been on quite a few flights with famous people (Cliff Richard, Anne Robinson, Joan Collins to name a few) but never spoken to them. My father and I almost ran Mick Jagger over as he used to live near us.

I real can't recall meeting many famous people:

Rob Schneider- I meet him at my cousin's wedding, he was with a tall woman as his date. Me and my girlfriend went up to him to say hi, and ended up having a drink with him.

Apart from that I have only meet famous mexicans:

Luis Perez (Soccer player who plays for Monterrey)- He was in the table next to mine last weekend in a nightclub.

Facundo (Has a hilarious comedy show)

"Perro" Bermudez (Mexican soccer commentator)

etc

I've met two famous people:

1) Cher I've met her multiple times in person on her tours--1999 in Indianapolis, 2000 in Denver, and 2003 in Fort Wayne, IN (my hometown). She's involved in the cause of craniofacial anomalies in children ever since her role in The Mask as the mother of a boy with a craniofacial condition. This cause is very dear to my heart.

2) Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II I was living and studying in London for 3 years (2004-2007). On October 22, 2006, I was on a King's College London chaplaincy retreat in Great Windsor Park west of London. When we went to the Sunday morning Eucharist in a little stone chapel out there, Her Majesty happened to be there. I got to speak to her and bow to her and shake her hand! I also met some of her entourage. She drives her own Jaguar estate (station wagon)!

I can say I've met the Queen of England before I've ever met any of my own Presidents!

-Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn (Were filming the movie "Housesitter" in the town where I grew up. Kurt Russell was there too but I didn't meet him)

-Rita Rudner (comedienne)- In the town I grew up there's a performing arts centre that when I was young attracted lots of big names in music and comedy. Now, thanks to bigger and better venues in the Boston area it largely gets lesser-known acts and country music (which would qualify as a lesser-known act in Greater Boston)

Through my job at an airline I met the following
-John Malkovich
-Renée Zellwegger
-Jane Seymour
-Paul McCartney and Heather Mills (shortly before their divorce)
-David Blunkett (former Home Secretary)
-Jude Law

On my days off I missed George H. W. Bush and former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell.

I have met-

James Earl Jones: Albany, NY maybe 5? years ago for some small Little League function at Hudson Valley Community College.

Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough: The two cast members of "Reno 911!" came to my campus in October to play a show. During the show I requested they do impressions of Jerry Seinfeld, then met them afterwards.

Paula Abdul: She was on my JFK-LAX flight on November 7th. I saw her sitting at the gate, and I was thinking to myself- "is that Paula?" My friend Alyssa didn't believe it when I told her, so I got a picture:

Big version: Width: 640 Height: 480 File size: 50kb

Keyshia Cole (the female rap artist) was also on the flight, but I didn't get to talk to her or anything.

Quoting WILCO737 (Reply 1):
The Jakob Sisters (with their dogs)

My deepest sympathy.

Mostly Germans here as well:

Siegfried Lenz - one of the most well-known German contemporary authors ("German Lesson" ...). A couple of fellow students and I once had the idea to initiate a benefit reading on behalf of the Janusz Korczak orphange in Warsaw. What a gentleman. The only famous head who ever gave me a friendly pat on the back (which was a little too strong actually).

Günther Grass - another author, winner of the Nobel Price in Literature ("The Tin Drum" ...). His son visited the same Gymnasium / secondary school.

Rudi Carell - a TV host. Came to visit my primary school.

Pres. Clinton - actually, I didn't really meet him but saw him in front of the Red Town Hall in Berlin.

Christiane Paul - an actress. Saw her once at a café in Berlin ... and ... and I believe she responded on my ad when I wanted a shared flat in Berlin. That was of course before she rose to fame. She had a flat in Pankow back then, her freezer was covered with post-it notes, and she told me she was studying medicine (which Christiane Paul did). Later I decided I wanted a flat just for me, not a shared one. Rats.
I'm not entirely sure, but I had a deja vu experience when I went to a cinema to see "Life is all you get" / "Das Leben ist eine Baustelle".

Moritz Bleibtreu - an actor ("Run Lola, run") - met him at a party in Hamburg before he got famous.

Daniel Brühl - another actor ("Good Bye, Lenin") - met him twice in Berlin. Apparently he lives in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg area, where I lived too. The first time I literally ran into him when he left a house.

Jürgen Trittin - former Federal Minister for the Environment. Lives in the above mentioned district. Saw him a couple of times at a farmer's market. Never bothered him, so I can only claim I saw him.

Wolfgang Thierse - former President of the Bundestag (the Federal Parliament). Lives - guess where. Saw him (nothing more) bicycling.

Saw a couple of politicians more at the Reichstag Building, most notably former Chancellor Schröder.

Dean Wareham - musician from NYC, founder of Galaxie 500 and Luna. He joined us at our table to light up a cigarette and have a beer before he entered the stage. No one bothered him, which is good.

I've been lucky to meet quite a bit as well, some of my favorites:

Celebs
*Drew Carey (outside the Ritz in Washington DC....unbelievable nice, humble person)
*Martin Sheen
*Jerry Springer

Sports
*Derek Jeter (Ritz in San Juan, PR, funny story)

Music
*Meatloaf (singer in Rapid City, SD)

Politicians
*President Bush (somewhat)
*Madeline Albright
*Newt Gringich
*James Carville
*Countless Congressmen and Senators since I was working as press on the Hill

Media (just a few, as I am media)
*Helen Thomas
*David Gregory
*George Stephnolopous (sp?)

That's just a sample, but was fun to rethink. Most of them wer ereally nice people, going out of the way to please us. Drew Carey played a joke on me, as have members of Congress. Derek Jeter stopped for our photos...etc.

Most of these aren't well known outside of the UK, but the following are people that I've known personally:

Julie Walters (lives in same village and has been family friend for over 10 years)
Jodie Kidd (lives in same village)
Alvin Stardust (lives next door)
Sue Barker (lives in same village)
Robbie Williams (used to live in same village, played golf with him)
Greg Rusedski (played golf with)

In terms of having met on the odd occasion, too many to list. I get into the executive and tunnel areas at different football grounds on most weekends, so have met plenty of football players, staff and referees. Also been backstage at the MOBOs this year.
