With Which Finger Do You Hit The "Backspace" Key?

I realized today that I tend to hit the backspace key with my ring finger. This is odd, considering my pinky is actually closer to the key.

Which is your digit of choice?

That's interesting. Do you touch type, or are you a "hunt and peck" typist?

This is funny as I am doing this as well. My ringfinger seems to find its way to the backspace key  Wink

Well, in a way, it makes sense. The ring finger is significantly longer than the pinky, meaning I can simply pivot my hand to type on the backspace key. If I were to hit it with my pinky finger, I would have to shift my hand up to reach it.

I type Backspace with my pinky. Same for the "Enter" key.

Ring finger. Also, when deleting multiple words, I often use "shift-ctrl-left arrow" to highlight entire words before hitting backspace and deleting one word per keystroke. I love that feature.

Right ring finger. Makes sense because it points in the right direction but is longer than the pinky.

When not typing, and just hitting a key, I alternate between the middle finger and pointer in rapid succession.

I think the error was intended.

Next question, then: do you hit the space bar with your right thumb or your left thumb? Or do you use another finger altogether?

After further analysis, the right thumb gets the most use, but I use both thumbs depending on the previous word typed.

Backspace gets the index finger when I use my stationary computer, though on my laptop I use my pinky.

Left thumb for space.

Interesting topic! I actually had to type a couple sentences to find out.

Backspace: Right Middle/Ring Finger

Enter: Right Pinky

Space Bar: Right Thumb (I didn't have to type anything to check this one - there's actually a big shiny spot on my space bar from it)

Shift: Left Pinky

Cheers,
