So last year was a washout, as I was the only one to attend, but I had fun still. So, is anyone interested in doing a meet in LAS for 2009?

March, April, or May works. I've got a cruise going the few days of April/first dew days of March, so that gives a reference of availability.

I'd be up for it if it were sometime in either late September or October, as that's the tentative time frame for my next Vegas trip. Had I not just come back from out there I'd be up for an LAS Meet in the Spring, but the money I had been saving towards a spring trip got used for this most recent trip (Got sent an offer I couldn't refuse and decided to use it since they were comped nights. All I had to do for those night was play in a two-day slot tournament that took up less than an hour of my time over those two days.).

I've got some connections that actually got to take a tour of Encore earlier today (no photos or texting allowed though) and just tweeted me with their thoughts on the place. The Wynn is pretty nice and Encore is supposed to be even nicer (Encore has a lot of the design elements used in the Wynn Macau), but both places are definitely out of my typical price range and comfort zone (When it comes to hotels, as long as the bathroom is clean and the bed is comfy, I'm happy. I'm pretty low maintenance.).

Give it some serious thought! I would never live in that city again. I went back to visit family and friends about a year ago, and it felt awesome being just a tourist.

I would be down to do a meet in LAS! Name a date, and I will see what I can do to get down there! We would have to do a Runway 25 Bar And Grill visit though! I LOVE THAT PLACE!

Currently 6 yes votes. This can make a small, much easier to organize meet. I'm going to go to Vegas around this time period, anyhow, so whether or not a meetup occurs, is moot to me. However, if we can get one to work, it would make it all the better.

You want Encore info and pics?

http://www.vegastripping.com/news/news.php?news_id=2450

http://www.encoreopening.com/

That's just the tip of the iceberg, as there's lots on info to be found on both sites. I'm thinking about spending a few nights there as part of my planned trip this fall. Based on the photos I've seen, my only complaint is there's too much red in the place (Encore is decorated in a similar manner to the Wynn Macau, hence the abundance of red, which is considered to be a lucky color in China.).

Isn't that the bar that's called "Tailspins"? I believe it's the one on Pecos Rd in between Sunset and Russell.

Thanks Sbrmod.

My advice would be to book now! Lets just say that for two nights at Encore, my buddy and I got a rate of about 150...

and thats not per night

I'll be in Las Vegas May 7th through the 10th for the Dave Matthews Band concerts at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. I already have my room at the MGM Comped from my previous gambling, just debating on a flight of either buying a plane ticket (which at the current rates, they can suck my nuts out of DCA), or using miles on AA or DL for a ticket.

If we do this, one thing is for certain, I'm staying Downtown. I'll gladly meet up wherever the group wants to meet up at. I've definitely become a fan of Downtown as the result of my last two trips to Vegas. It's not as crowded as the Strip (The only time Fremont Street is crowded is at night for the light show.), you don't have to deal with those porn slappers every 20 feet trying to hand you stuff, and lastly, it's the last refuge of Old Vegas. Plus you can get a decent room at a cheap price

I'm slightly tempted to throw some dates in March out for discussion, as I received my February/March offer from Binion's in the mail a few days back and a quick check of fares made it all the more tempting to head out there in the Spring.

Here's the dates I'm throwing out for consideration:

March 13-15
March 20-22

Actually, these dates would work even better for me than March (Mainly because that would give me some additional time to save up for the trip, as it has long been my policy to not go into debt when I take a trip.). I was out there the first weekend in May last year, and the weather is just right, as by Memorial Day, it starts to get hot.

Looking at the room rates I can get at a Harrah's property, there's some decent room rate deals for the first half of this year. For those above dates, I can get a room at Harrah's, the Flamingo, Rio, and the Impotent Palace for less than $200 (and in the case of the Impotent Palace, less than $100.). I would venture to guess that the Binion's offer I got will just roll over month to month until the Summer, when the rates will drop even further, as this recent offer is pretty much the same offer I got for December/January.

However, it won't work for me, as I'll have just returned from my cruise, with my vacation time used up. The March dates are fine, though.

Why don't we shoot for the traditional weekend March, which this year would be the 20/21/22? If I do go (I'm not 100% sure yet, as there's a few things in my life that could ax me going out there at all this year, and I would have a better idea within the next few weeks), I'll probably fly out either Thursday night or Friday morning and head back Sunday morning.

Oh, I do prefer old town as well (despite the distance from the south strip, and O'shea's; however, that area of the strip gets REALLY crowded 5-6ish, and was never a good spot for getting the group organized.)

I ate at the Golden gate cafe last year, and boy, was it delish! Plus, there's the daquari bars, and better odds.

Also, I want to check out the new tower at El Cortez. Oh, and they are REALLY generous with the alcohol at EC.

That whole area from Bill's to the Harrah's is a bottleneck. If the casinos were still set further back from the road like they used to be, there would be plenty of room for folks to loiter and still allow folks to pass. Case in point, Bally's/Paris/Planet Hollywood. The only time I was even on The Strip my last trip was when I was driving from the airport to Downtown and when I was going back to the airport.

Don't forget the deep fried Twinkies @ Mermaids. I actually ate one while sober my last trip out there. Hit there again the next day for a hot dog and some of the deep fried Oreos (at that point, I was in the early stages of a bender).

I've yet to try the Bay City Diner yet. I was going to back in May, but the line was too long. Went "across the street" to the LV Club (Their Great Moments Cafe isn't too bad of a place for breakfast). My personal favorites are the coffeeshop @ Binion's and the deli counter there as well (their snack bar has a similar [and larger] menu, but the deli counter is less crowded. The buffet at the Golden Nugget is pretty good (Lily's Noodle House is O.K., Red Sushi is pretty good.). I tried the Paradise Garden Buffet @ the Fremont my last trip, and it's a pretty good buffet, up there with the one @ Main Street Station and slightly better than the one @ the Golden Nugget (Mainly in terms of value for money).

Still no real set date for the opening of the El Cortez Cabana Suites, but according their minimalistic website, there's a number you can call for early reservations and a spot where you can sign up for updates. It's the old Ogden House gussied up and have some amenities like an iPod dock, flat screen TV. Based on the renditions of it I have seen, it's a slight step below what the Golden Nugget has done with their Gold Club Room. At least with the ElCo, you don't have to deal with the noise from the Fremont Street Experience.
