I disagree, though Russell Crowe was good in "A Beautiful Mind", Denzel Washington, who was alright in "Training Day" has deserved an oscar for a leading role for nearly a decade, a I think he deserved it for all of his achievements. It was great to see Halle Berry and Denzel BOTH win the top acting awards. A day in history will live on for years to come. This is a HUGE deal for Blacks like me, to finally see 2 blacks up there leading the way.

Goodbye: I totally agree about Russell Crowe! An actor friend of mine used to share a flat with him in Sydney years ago and apparently he was the dirtiest slob one could ever know!
But Goodbye, you are alone on the Nicole comment. DO NOT BASH OUR NICOLE!!

I personally cannot believe that Denzel Washington did not get an Oscar for his role in 'The Hurricane'. He really deserved it that time, and although I have not seen 'Training Day' yet, if his acting is half as good as that in 'The Hurricane', he deserves the Oscar.

goodbye he very well may be an arrogant however every movie i have seen him in he has been extremely good, Mystery Alasksa, Gladiatior Beautiful mind and of course he was excellent in the insider. he is a good actor. I dislike Tiger Woods for the same reason you don't like Crowe I don't think Woods is a thug but I think he is extremely arrogant but i won't say he's a terrible golfer because of it.

Also don't get me worng Denzel is one of my all time favorite actors and I was glad to see him win. I think one of my favorite roles for him was in Glory and in Philadelphia. He was total class in his acceptance speech and i was glad to see him win. I also wanted Halle Berry to win and was glad when she did. Althugh I think they should have given her a second oscar for her reaction when she won

Goodbye, these comments
Russel Crowe is an arrogant thug, who is talentless and can't act for peanuts. I'm glad he was beaten.
And the same for Nicole Kidman.
Are you trying to win back the American crowd
Anyway, It's no great loss, They still have their multiple millions, there stardom and fame. Nicole needs a script, she is hopless withouyt it. Ever seen her on Jay Leno, and Crowe isn't an Australian anyway
While Denzel was a shock, I think he has done enough over the years to warrant it.
Glenn
and haha, you can't slag me bag for 9 days, wont be here

The Beautiful Mind was a so-so movie. It was hard to tell apart the actual from the mind. Loved it when that guy Charles, that little girl, and the Pentagon guy with the black hat and suit kept popping up. And those rooms full of newspaper and magazine cuttings, weird!

Denzel deserves to win the Best Actor, Russel Crowe is a self-centered, arrogant thug!!!
I also think that Black Hawk Down should have been nominated for Best Picture instead of A Beautiful Mind and that Ridley Scott should have won for Best Director.

The reason why Russel Crowe didn't get his second Oscar in a row are more political!
First of all to award an actor for best leading role in 2 following years is very seldom. If Russel Crowe would have get the Oscar his position in Hollywood would become more powerful, maybe to powerful!
This years Oscars are a tribute to the black actors/actress.
Denzel Washington is a great actor, but "training day" is only average and it was a big surprise that he got the award.
But Russel Crowe got the Oscar for Gladiator for a good performance and I think his performance in A Beautiful mind was outstanding. Russel Crowe diserved the Oscar, it is sad to see how politics can influence such a award!

Difficult for me to really comment as I haven't seen the films concerned, I do note that Russell Crowe's new album has so far sold less than 200 copies in the UK.
The only actor I really wanted to see win, was Ben Kingsley for best supporting actor in Sexy Beast.
Always knew it was unlikely though, let's just say that it would have difficult to show a clip of his portrayal of London crook/nutcase Don Logan, to a mainstream audience!
That someone like him, who does not really look the part, could project such menance was terrific, like Ed Norton in American History X.
But a friend's brother, who was formerly a detective, said that Kingsley in Sexy Beast was the only really convincing violent criminal he's ever seen on film.
But Jim Broadbent deserved the supporting actor award, I've not seen Iris, but he's a great actor.

GDB, Couldn't agree with you more about (Sir) Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast. WHAT a performance that was. The role was actually quite small, but he just totally dominated the screen.
And as you say, it would have been hard to show a clip where he wasn't using words beginning with "F" and "C"!

That's because his acting style hasn't changed in the past decade. He's the same character over and over, just in different movies. Hollywood finally just gave up and gave him an award.

it's hard to feel sorry for some asshole who gets $20m per picture, already has an oscar, a rock band, an invitation to every party he wants to attend, and a different flavored babe every week!
