New Year's Eve Fireworks 09/09: Your Spending?

For no apparent reason it turned out that, I have not been spending a single cent for fireworks this year. Staying at home tonight (as usual), there will be no fireworks around, as also the neighbours are either out or too old to take care of any fireworks.
This year's 0€ is contrast to spending around 100 € last year.

Question is: How much have you been spending on fireworks for the upcoming New Year's Eve ?

Sales forecast for Germany was € 100 million - about the same as last year.

Amazing how much money people can spend on something that you burn away in few minutes!

That's one reason why, since years / decades organizations try to persuade people to give money for charity instead of spending it for fireworks ...

16.4 million population in NL.

82.5 million in D.

65/16.4 = € 3.96 p.p. in NL
100/82.5 = € 1.21 p.p. in D

Sensible folk in Germany.

Happy New Year

Still the firework in my village was on par with last year.
And unlike some other places, views were not obstructed by fog.

Most of the fireworks that has been sold in The Netherlands in recent days actually has been in storage in Germany ...
After the terrible accident in Enschede a few years ago, many NL-retailers are using the old ammuniation bunkers loacted along the DE/NL-border to store their merchandise, which gets trucked to shops only shortly before going onto sale.

A prosperous 2009 to everyone !

I was looking forward to free fireworks over the Long Beach harbor this evening, but a very thick fog rolled in tonite and most fireworks displays were canceled. I am quite depressed over that turn of events.  sorry

That sucks indeed. The harbour in Hamburg was full with about 3 trillion people and everybody sent their rockets into the sky. Was a lovely sight. It was friggin cold, but I enjoyed it.

0€ this year opposed to 50€ each the last 5 years. I did not want to spend any money as I was directly in the city and no open area too fire them. I have done such stupid things before endangering me and the whole area. Big grin Big grin
