Kylie Attacks Britney

Pop star Kylie Minogue has put the boot into her rival Britney Spears, saying she should be in more control of her career.

Minogue was speaking the day after fans of Spears booed at the première of her new movie Crossroads because she was whisked straight into the London cinema without signing autographs.

Spears said she had wanted to meet with waiting fans but it was deemed too much of a security risk.

Speaking at the Capital FM Awards, Minogue said: "Her PRs have pushed her in the wrong direction and she is being misguided.

"Britney's been in the business a long time and she should know the ropes by now."

But Minogue was in for some stick herself as Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones took a swipe at the former Neighbours actress for being an ex-soap star and not an artist.

The Welshman was speaking after Minogue picked up best international female and best international single for Can't Get You Out of My Head at the London awards.

Jones said: "I think the country's gone a little bit mad about what's a celebrity and what's an artist.

"I hope our kids realise the difference. You're only as good as your last record - and Kylie, you'll always be Charlene to me, love."

Jones made the comment when Minogue had left the ceremony to conduct a television interview.

'Zoo animals'

But Queen guitarist Brian May leapt to her defence as he picked up an award for his band's contribution to music.

He said: "Most people in this room get ****** off with being celebrities - it's rather like being zoo animals.

"Kylie, as far as I'm concerned you're an artist and you can do whatever you like."

Minogue was joined on the winners rostrum by Dido for best British female and Robbie Williams for best British male.

Williams took the opportunity to hit out at Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates.

In a recorded acceptance speech he had Gareth scrawled on his forehead while singing Spears' hit I'm a Slave 4 U, suggesting Gates was nothing more than a record company puppet.

Boy band Blue picked up three awards, winning best pop act, best newcomer and best single for If You Come Back.

AA61hvy: If you think Britney is getting old at the ripe old age of 20, you'll probably blow a gasket when I tell you that Kylie is 32!  Wow!  Wink/being sarcastic

Kylie and Britney getting into a fight. I can't agree with KROC more when I say that a couple of immature young (and younger) women act like little girls pulling on each other's pigtails in the play yard.

I really don't see how a 32-year-old with a stunning body and more musical talent in her thumb than Britney has in her collagen infested body "washed up." But I guess you and I just have different standards  Smile

Guys,

Despite my disdain for Brittany, by her own accounts is so far up herself she might as well dissapear, I agree with Kylie.

Whilst Brittany is thoroughly manufactered, artificial colours and flavours, Kylie is not.

There was a time when Kylie was though, but that has changed. She is very much like Madonna in how her career is turning out.

But there is one thing that Kylie has that no other music performer I have seen can do.

When Kylie gets on stage, she looks at everyone just the same as she has always done, thoroughly amazed and delighted in her fans. It's this modicum of ordinariness that makes her so popular.

If anyone has ever witnessed a Kylie show, and I have many, she always has this amazed look on her face and a genuine smile and delight in the pleasure she is giving so many.

I know many women at age 22 that would kill to look as natural and beautiful as Kylie.

When the Brittany's of this world are long gone, living in seclusion somewhere, Kylie (& Madonna) will be out there thumping away doing something.

Ok, Kylie is a bit older than Britney but I bet she's not half that dumb as Britney seems to be.

You are one of the few Yanks in this forum, who I am sure has had the pleasure of hearing Kylie's music over the years, right? And if this is right, then I am sure you can attest to the way that she has time and time again re-invented herself, and her music, to give her an edge which is somewhat manufactured by the record companies when you look at people such as Britney Spears, Christine Aguilera, etc.

When Britney, Christine, Shakira, or any of these other "artists" or "stars" can have as many successful albums and tours, then, and only then, can they claim to be truly successful.

America and Canada are only recently hearing Kylie's music, and hence, more about her, and she isn't a "one-album, one-hit wonder" which American record companies seem to pump out these days. Look at Madonna and her career, and you will then see some real parallels between the 2 artists.

Oh yeah, I fully agree with the bitch about Spears. Bring it on girl!

And I could really give a crap less. It's not like multi-million dollar dolls are running my life. And also - why does non-av forum look like national enquirer now?

This one deserves a major god damn shaft, if you ask me.

LH423-your right a gasket is now blown.. she does not look 32... but none the less.. she looks good... i phrased what i said wrong.. i ment britney's music is getting old.. just like with all that teeny bop crap-none of them have talent. they lip sync and have people right songs for them... i prefer rock and heavy stuff. i like stuff that has alot of emotion in it.. even if it the song is about something real skin deep, i still like it... for instance godsmack, i feel they put alot of emotion into their songs... ie:"awake"

Aviatsiya.ru: When you have a career with the longevity of Kylie or Madonna you have to re-invent yourself. That's where the actual longevity comes from. If you stay the same and really just pump out the same old crap record after record people will lost interest and that's when these "boybands" and other manufactured artists only get a shelflife of about 3-5 years. Say you're a 15 year old girl (c'mon, I know you can  Big grin), are you gonna still be interested in the same 4 or 5 guys who have done nothing for that past 4 years but do the same album over and over again, just with new songs...not to mention now that they are slightly ageing? Or will you interests be transferred to a replica of that band, except they're younger and fresher?

Look at all the bands and singers that have been around: U2, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and of course, Kylie. All of them have thus far had careers of more than 10 years (hard to believe it will be 20 years soon since Madonna first made a splash). What keeps people (at least myself) interested, is that they'll always try and do something a little different, and in Kylie and Madonna's case, they also find nothing wrong with being provokative. Kind of amazing to see how far Kylie has come from "Loco-Motion" and Madonna from "Borderline".

Well, you can talk everything on the non-av forum. So it might become like more national enquirer forum.
