Most likely homework. Glad, I'll be saving a little money this time around. If I do get something, it'll be for myself. I'm holding out for the Easter Carmel Eggs!

Sorry your life is so miserable.
As I guy I actually think Valentines day is sweet and frankly its a nice occasion to refocus and express ones love and dedication as so often in our busy worlds we too often forget and take things for granted.
Frankly every day should be valentines.

Yeah, I like the day. I would just happen to enjoy it if I had someone to spend it with this year...

Agree 100% why should we spend money on red roses fancy dinners and the like. If you love your partner why do we have to say it on one specific day( apart from the fact it is the last real big money earner for most corps out there ) I say it whenever I want and I dont need flowers cards or jewellry to do it

I'll probably spend part of my day tomorrow with fellow artists in the Bay Area, as we meet once a month (Second Saturday we call it).
I'll also start putting a lot of my stuff up on eBay tomorrow, so I can start saving up for a very special birthday gift for my real Valentine--my mother --a cruise to Alaska from San Francisco in September this year, for her 85th birthday! Wanna pitch in?

I guess my point of view on the whole thing is that it shouldn't take some random holiday to ensure people don't take their loved ones for granted.
Oh well.

Yeah, clearly she was.
Personally, I'm looking forward to Sunday when all the unsold Valentine candy gets marked down to half price.

I'm also against the consumerism of Valentine's Day. So this year my girlfriend and I are going to skip gifts and just exchange orgasms.

Agree fully, however with life being what it is seemingly, I believe its nice however to have a day that aids us in refocusing on each other.

I never celebrate this stupid day with my girlfriend as we do not ONE day to give us little presents or tell that we love each other!
Same goes for Mothersday and All Saints day. Those days are here because of the flower industry. If I do not remember my loved ones ( dead or alive) all year long I should not do it on a special day.

Well, you're lucky you can celebrate Valentine's Day :
In the city of Mangalore, India, the self-styled 'Ram Sene' (Army of Rama) is going around beating up boys and girls who are doing immoral acts ( talking to each other, holding hands ect). They have threatened to get priests and marry them forcibly on the spot. Shops in Bangalore are closed today for fear of violence.
It's amazing how biological frustration can fuel bigotry and hatred. We need to invest in lap dancing in South Asia to put an end to religious fundamentalists.

I also find it interesting nobody has started a "normal" valentines day thread. Maybe it's because I'm right in calling it an unimaginative, consumerist-oriented and entirely arbitrary, manipulative and shallow interpretation of romance day.
