Tiger, Tiger, Tiger...augh. I cannot stand the amount of coverage there is for his return. Yes I get it, he is the best golfer in the world and is back, but the coverage has gotten to the point that they are not reporting on anything else. I am struggling to find a story on espn.com or even pga.com that actually mentions, oh by the way, 2 of the 4 #1 seeds in the WGC Championship lost in the first round! I wish they could find some kind of balance.

This bother anyone else?

Tiger may be dominating the sports news for a few days since he's just returned from being away - but it will pass soon. It doesn't seem like he'll be the lead story 2 weeks or a month from now.

As for overall news, I have seen quite enough about Nadya Suleman (the octo-mom). It would be fine with me if her face never appears in print or online again.

Blank.

This happens in sports. I'm not a golf fan, but try being an IndyCar fan in 2005. They never shut up about Danica Patrick.

Dan Wheldon won the Indy 500, but was the second person to be interviewed after the race because ABC had to interview Danica, who finished fourth. They did all they could to shove her down your throat. Even if she was 4 laps down in 15th spot, you'd still get an update every few minutes & after the race as to where she was.

Danicamania let up after 2005, but reared its ugly head again after she won a race last year. ESPN thoroughly enjoyed demoting the last 10 minutes of the Long Beach GP to a small window as ESPN went picture-in-picture and talked to her about her win in the bigger window. There was a RACE on, it was coming up on the FINISH, yet they just had to get that interview in.

More recently, ESPN has drooled over NASCAR rookie Joey Logano. With one major race (a Nationwide Series race, like AAA baseball) under his belt & no races in the top division, he was crowned "NASCAR's Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan". This is having never raced most of the top drivers in the sport.

You are both right on the money! I agree 100%. Was nearly impossible to watch an Indy car race during the height of Danica-mania. I was certainly expecting the same thing upon Tiger's return to the golf world as well. The networks were ga-ga over him BEFORE he got hurt....I could only imagine the blanket coverage when he got back. It'll be the same come Maters time. You'll never even know there are dozens of other players in the field. Hell, you won't even know who his playing partner is.......
But hey, he does bring in the ratings - people do tune in specifically to watch him. I wouldn't mind a little more attention paid to the others in the field however

Yea verily. But then again, rather disliking golf does not give the "poor" bugger much of a chance in this corner of the ground. Did anyone (else) know that the sands on the shore next to St Andrews golf course contain beautiful spatangid sea urchins?

More importantly, Scotland has Scotch...

True and more it is more interesting than golf, but then again, the spatangid sea urchins are also more interesting than golf!  wink

You need to go there (St A beach) on Feb 14, the spatangids are also known as heart urchins due to their shape, very romantic - provided it is not blowing a gale off the North Sea as it usually is.
