If you don't mind, i'd like to take a quick survey to see what you are paying /KWh.

What brought this on?...well, I'm in a battle with Universal Energy right now because i apparently signed up with them late last year and i'm now paying 9.6 cents /KWh which is crazy. My neighbours are paying 5.6 cents.

I've never heard of Universal Energy but with some research i found out that they are related to National Home Services who replaced my hot water tank last year. So i dug out my paper work and i can't find any clause stating that i agreed to switch my power through this retailer. I asked Universal for something, anything showing that i signed up with them. It's very frustrating.

Anybody else have stories about door to door energy salespeople?

Well, I'm at work and I can't verify the numbers now, but I think we pay a total of $0.0147/KwH to Sarnia Hydro here in SW Ontario. There is a basic rate and then a whole lot of add-on charges that bring the number up that high.

I bought a plug-in meter unit from that neat little gadget store in the USA at Christmas. Last weekend it cost me 18 cents to vacuum the house!

Oh,Oh - order of magnitude error above. It should be 14.7 cents /KWh.

By the way, I never do business at my front door, and I recommend that policy to others as well.

I'm paying an average of about 11 cents/kWh.

Though "hydro" would be an incorrect term for the electricity here in AB. Most of our power is from coal powered plants and not hydroelectric plants.

Drives me nuts when out of towners call it "hydro" even after living here for years. Pet peeve lol
