Been waiting for many of these features for awhile.

Landscape Email, multiple photo send. All good stuff.

Looks like iphone OS 3.0 will make a great phone even greater.

I can't wait to see what will happen when the new HW comes out this summer. Any ideas?
I hope for a better camera, and video. Any other HW features that are needed?

http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/17/l...pples-iphone-os-3-0-preview-event/

the above is from the developer conference where the new API is being released to the development community.

Are there any SW features missing that anyone can think of?

Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

And even better for iPod touch owners: The Bluetooth chip can be unlocked with the new 3.0 software.

I think I'm willing to spend those $9.95 on the update for my iTouch 2G.

Those things are nice, but all I really want them to do is make the thing run faster. I hate waiting for it to think between applications running. SMS in particular takes a LOOOONG time to load.

I really hope "mark multiple emails as read" is included. Seems to be a good whack of features and upgrades I've been wanting for while.

Apple are being nice and ambiguous about it stating "summer 09" as if it's a fashion line. Quite smart when you consider how much bad press MS gets every time they miss a release date. Looks like mid June.

You can be certain it will be on the release of the third iPhone generation which is expected around that time (not least as an incentive for 1st generation owners whose contracts will expire at that point).

With the new model they will introduce thus far hidden additional software features to support the new hardware.

I didn't even have to look into my tea leaves for that, it's just the logical consequence of how they've handled the iPhone so far.

I've just installed the OS 3.0 Beta on my iPhone 3G, as I'm a registered developer... oh wait, I can't talk about it, it's under NDA. But it's definitely very, very cool!  Smile

Why are they making it a huge media fuss? It's not like these features are ground breaking. Most other mid to high range phones have been capable of that for quite a while now.

iphone can now just barely call itself a smart phone.

For the price of the handsets, these features should have been available out of the box, at least with the iphone 3G.

The UI is nice though, and the web browsing can't be beat, but still no Flash support? C'mon Apple...

Well, it's the only phone I've found so far that allows me to *really* browse the web and answer my emails while on the road. Haven't found another one yet.

There's not a single web site I visit that needs flash to work. But I can understand that this might be an issue for people who actually need flash for whatever they do. Luckily I'm not one of them.

All in all, the best phone I've ever owned, and with 3.0 it's now really "complete*.

I saw this earlier today and it gave me a laugh (ignore the grammar error, haha):

Seriously though, the improvements are just making a really solid/unique device that much better. Might just have to get myself one to compliment my BB next time I'm eligible for a hardware upgrade!

Finally. The only thing I didn't like about the iPhone won't be an issue anymore, I can finally send/receive MMS without a third party app (never tried one, didn't find one with good reviews)

I won't use it, but glad it's there for those that do

What do you develop for iPhone Manu?

I'm a member of the Dev program (joined speculatively a while ago) is it worth me paying $99 for the beta?

I dont think $99 is worth it just to get OS 3.0 early. But it is worth it if you come up with a killer app and make back your $99!

As soon as my current project i'm working on is done I've set aside some time to play with the iPhone SDK. Any feedback for developing manu?
