Someone finally put the slipper on, late in day 2 of the NCAA tournament, and it's Cleveland State. WOO HOO! The Vikings easily beat Wake Forest, 84-69, to advance to play Arizona in round 2. The game wasn't even that close. CSU dominated the former #1 team.

Siena and Ohio State are in double overtime as we speek.

Congrats to the hometown Vikings. They have a terrific shot at getting to the Sweet 16!

The question is Falcon, was your pick for Cleveland skill or luck?    This messes up my bracket too because I had Wake going pretty far into the tourney. I have gotten a couple of other big upsets right though so I guess you win some and lose some.

EDIT: Piss! OSU loses in Double OT.  mad

I've watched them on TV a few times this year. They're a solid, disciplined team. They beat #11 Syracuse, and played #15 Butler even-steven three games this year. They don't make many mistakes. NO way they get past Louisville, if they beat Arizona, but they're a solid ballclub.

Two of the ESPN.com experts had them in the Final Four. Maybe they just had an off night, or maybe CSU is better than anyone thought, but Wake did not impress me much today.

I didn't expect Wake to make the Final Four but I didn't expect them to suck in the first round either. Then again, living here in Greensboro and having gone to a few Wake Forest games over in Winston-Salem, it seems Wake tends to play down to the level of their competition (we usually see them win, but not by much over so-so teams), and it looks like tonight they underestimated their opponent and it cost them their seat in the tournament.

Congrats on calling the 13 over 4. I'm just happy I called two of the three 12 over 5 games (Western Ky over Illinois and tonight's Wisconsin over FSU).

Yea but I also called that upset in my bracket over Clemson so I'm glad Michigan didn't get beat.  wink

The region CSU is in just killed me in the first round, and I'm at about 60%. I don't think many people picked Siena to beat OSU in OSU's backyard, and I certianly think, with all the bad pub Arizona got for making the tourney, no one picked them to beat Utah. I don't see Siena, Arizona or CSU beating Louisville, though.

Plus, I picked Syracuse as the surprise Final 4 team, along with Louisville, Memphis and Pitt. I'm sure that won't happen, but it's all in fun.

I did. Big grin OSU sucks.

I sure as heck didn't.  Sad

 checkmark

Wake Forrest blew it big. But they're the only black spot on my bracket as I didn't expect either them or Utah to lose. Either way I never had them beating Louisville which I have going to the final four. IMO, Louisville's path is just that much easier now. You've heard of bracket busters...this was a bracket locker!

It's nice to see some excitement in the 2nd day of the 1st round...yesterday was a snoozer! And my bracket is still pretty strong.  Big grin

I did! Can't get to 99.9% unless you do. And I picked them because few things light the fire under your ass like being told you don't belong.

No way. This team isn't the same as the "Run and Stun" that Kevin Mackey put together back then. That team had some talent, no doubt, but this one is a disciplined defensive team, not a team that prersses your for 40 minutes. They make you make mistakes through patience and discipline. They're not a hugely talented offensive team, but they don't make many mistakes.

Coach Gary waters said they'd have "no chance" if the game got into the 80 point range. Well, he was wrong.  Big grin

I hope Cleveland State loses the next round.

Sorry, just a bitter Wake Forest alum here. (Oh God why must Wake Forest basketball continue to collapse in the postseason every year? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!)

I'd bet my entire paycheck that Pitt implodes in the Sweet 16 like they always do! Heck, I'd even bet that any high school JV boys squad would beat Pitt!! Big grin

Kudos to Cleveland, tho!
