I might go to IND for my last flights on NW. What's there to do on a daytrip?

My aunt lives there, and everytime I visit for Thanksgiving she always recommends the ring. It goes around downtown and it's mainly a bunch of shops and restaurants.

There's the Eiteljorg museum which is a museum of Native American history. I liked it, but got bored of it after spending almost all day there (my grandma is beyond obsessed with that stuff). Nextdoor is the science center which has an IMAX theatre.

Other than that, I can't think of much. I only head there once a year, and most of my time in Indy is spent helping my aunt prepare the Thanksgiving meal.

The top of the parking garage is good for spotting. It's at the 5L-5R end. It gives a good view of the Republic Airways hangar. The IMAX is also really nice.

If you're into shopping the Fountain Square mall is a good place to go. Really big.

That's pretty much all I know of in Indianapolis.

I've been to Indianapolis millions of time to visit friends & family. There really is nothing to do there.
Their new airport has a T.G.I. Friday’s and a Wolfgang Puck Express.
If you go during the time when the Indiana State Fair is open, you could possibly see the largest pig in Indiana or the largest apple pie.
I was there a few years ago and attended the Pork Chop Revue featuring Oink the Singing Pig.

Enjoy.  Smile

Pack up and get the F*CK out!

In all seriousness though, there's the Indy car museum, which is cool for a little bit, but nothing too spectacular. Also mentioned above is the shopping center, and the IMAX. The central downtown area is somewhat nice, but very small and not much time is needed there. Indianoplace is basically a suburban sprawl and has nothing really going on. I can't wait to be done with school and get out of Indiana!

You might also want to check out Eagle Creek. It's pretty cool there if you can get a ride out there and just walk around the park.

Nope! I go to Purdue! Don't worry though, I don't pay too much attention to the IU Purdue rivalry.  duck

I like and enjoy Indianapolis. It doesn't have a number of "big ticket" places but there's a number of things to do when you can just go here for a bit, there for a bit, back here for a bit, etc. etc., and end up doing all kinds of interesting stuff within a day.

Longer time is needed at the racetrack, Children's Museum, Eiteljorg, zoo, etc. etc.

Just Google Indianapolis tourism, or visit the website. A good place to start.

The thing about Indianapolis that you need to know is -- the fun things to do are not in Indianapolis itself. It's a jumping-off point to tons of outdoorsy stuff. No mountains, but plenty of hills, forests, lakes, streams, etc, where you can camp. Those are mainly to the south, southeast, and southwest, as the area to the north was devastated by glaciation.

Also, Connor Prairie (think 'Colonial Williamsburg') is nearby. Indiana also has a strong Amish community, though that's mostly in the northern portion of the state.

That's right. Indianapolis is not a huge driving challenge, even during rush hour. They've paid a lot of attention to making sure you can get from one part of town to another quickly, and most of the highways have been pretty much rebuilt in the last few year.
