This one had mie in absolute stitches. From the party that brought you George W. Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Susan Bachman, Sarah Palin, and a cast of thousands!

And yes, I've plum forgot how to post a video image on here. But watch this. It'll have you wondering HOW this party thinks they're going to remake themselves by, say, the next century?

Wow... Call Keith Olbermann as biased as you want (and I personally don't), but everything that he described the GOP as doing reeks of desperation. I get the feeling that most Republican leaders have realized that they have lost major credibility and trying anything to try to gain it back...

It really is telling that more people in a Rasmussen poll view Venezuela in a favorable light than the Republican party right now.

I find Keith Olbermann almost as annoying as the right-wing talking heads. He's not really funny, and all the numbers in here are so twisted and distorted that they are pointless. Polling on "Venezuela" is not the same as polling on Chavez, for example. And only 2.7% (20 people in the poll) think Obama is a socialist? Ha. There are 30 people right here on A.net calling him that, so I somehow doubt that the number could possibly be that low out of a 730 person sample or whatever.

I agree with Olbermann's politics overall, but I find him a blowhard. The problem for me is that as comedy, this is not funny (as, say, Jon Stewart is) and as real commentary this doesn't argue maturely and cogently.

But, hey, if people like it, let 'em enjoy it I guess.

It's people like you what cause unrest!

Making everyone in the party use the term "Democratic Socialist Party" to refer to the Democrats isn't going to do it.

Quite true. The poll numbers were a waste of time. But the fact remains that the GOP is really desperate if they're coming up with this craziness.

So, where are all the "defenders of the faith" in this thread. They're strangely quiet. They're also dead silent on other boards where this has been posted. It's deafining.

It's funny, they are vocal as hell when it comes to the President and Democrats in general, but they certainly clam up fast when the shoe is on the other foot. Most liberals on here would be on here either defending such a thing, or, in many cases, castigating their party for such a thing. They wouldn't be hypocritically silent.

No takers from the right?

 checkmark

There's a reason why I don't listen to him. The thing is that, as obnoxious, arrogant, insulting, and inflammatory as he is, his logic and reason are valid and generally internally consistent.

Compare him to Hannity, (he of Dijon mustard fame) or Rush ("hang all drug abusers publicly") and ten million Olbermanns wouldn't add up to Rush's big toe for sheer blowhard value.

You forget that the A.net population is more militaristic, and waaaaay more male, than the population at large. As a result, it trends more conservative than the general population.

Not right now it doesn't. Many of the conservatives that were here six months or a year ago are no longer on the site.

But even with that said, I very much doubt that 30 people on here have been calling Obama a socialist. I could think of about 10 that do on a regular basis.
