I'm glad they canned Tony Kornheiser. Good riddance and welcome to Jon "Chucky" Gruden. I think he'll be an excellent addition to the MNF crew. Can't see him doing this very long though; he's a great coach.
Actually, he wasn't canned. Tony has something in common with John Madden, the fear of flying. That's why he's leaving. I agree with what the columnist on Yahoo! said in regards to Kornheiser:
Quote: I apologize if I'm not able to contain my excitement. I have loathed the Tony Kornheiser era at Monday Night Football, so much so that I purchased a Sirius satellite radio hook-up so I could listen to the Westwood One broadcast instead of ESPN's. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it.
Rush Limbaugh and Dennis Miller were less annoying to listen to on MNF.

Officially; your correct.
ABC 'accepted his resignation' because ratings have dropped since they brought him onboard.
His excuse for 'fear of flying' is about as lame as James Harrison's excuse for not wanting to go to the White House.
I'd put Kornheiser on a short list with his partner on PTI, Mike Wilbon, and Skip Bayless for worse sports announcers on any network; period. The show PTI is such a great format, but I only enjoy it when one of the two idiots is absent and Dan Levitar or Bob Ryan anchor.

I kinda like PTI, but I know what you mean. Kornheiser can be annoying on THAT show. As for MNF, I found Kornheiser as annoying as Dennis Miller. I am sooo happy he is finally gone, whatever the official reason. He was a poor fit, a terrible sportcaster, and I got tired of his lovefest with Ron Jaworski.

Normally I'd feel some sympathy, but Kornheiser was my least favorite announcer of any team in any of the sports that I watch (primarily racing, hockey & football). He brought very little to MNF other than random stats, and pearls of insanity like comparing Aaron Rodgers' beard to Brett Favre's.
