How Do You Know Your Facebook Friends?

OK, so I was a bit bored tonight and started to think about how I met/know my facebook friends. I don't have a huge number of friends on there (compared to some people I know!), so it was a fairly easy task for me to break them down into categories. I'm curious to see how others compare (percentages not compulsory, neither is using the same categories!)...

I currently have a total of 88 friends, who can be broken down as follows:

Family - 7 (7.95%)
From airliners.net - 5 (5.68%)
From other websites - 7 (7.95%)
Old school friends - 21 (23.86%)
Friends that I have worked with - 37 (42.05%)
Friends of friends - 4 (4.55%)
Random adds - 4 (4.55%)
Other friends - 3 (3.41%)

If you're bored too, have a think about yours!! Big grin

Everyone on my FB are only the people I know real well, with exceptions of maybe 1 or 2 people. I just don't add anyone to my FB. I have to really trust certain people before they are added to my FB because I have family AND co-workers on it. I don't tolerate drama, inappropriate stuff or any BS on it.

I recently trashed my MySpace last week. It was no real use to me at all since I am never over there. MySpace......just didn't do it for me.

All but 28 of the 325 on my list are family, friends for a long time, or friends from school. Of the 28, almost all of them are either professional contacts with whom I occasionally keep in touch or friends or family of other friends who I met and talked with. There are only two people on the list with whom I do not believe I have ever talked (another Aston Villa fan and a student member of the New York State Bar Association).

Ditto. Means no A.Net members either!  Wink I think it's a great communication tool to those friends/relatives you don't necessarily talk to that often.

I've got 95 friends on Facebook and it breaks down to:

Family - 10
From airliners.net - 40
People I went to school with - 14
Friends I know from something else - 31 (football/rowing/flight schools/work etc.)

Out of these 95, I have personally met 78 of them.

I don't do much with my facebook account though, I use the Dutch equivalent of it much more often.

Most are from school or college, some are just friends, and the rest are people I know through other people.
