I know I am a sitting duck for KROC on this one, but the canning of manager Phil Garner and GM Randy Smith by Tiger's president Dave Drombowski was long overdue. This franchise, once a proud jewel of the American League, has languished under the ownership of pizza king Mike Illitch (who also owns the red Wings).

Do you know which A.L. team has won the most pennants, and hence has made the most World Series appearances, after the Yanks? (Hint: it's not the Red Sox).

Maggs swings, it's a drive deep to left! The Tigers are going to the World Series!!!

Funny, I was thinking I needed to email you on this one Stretch.

Ole Scrap Iron should not have gotten the can. Randy Smith definitely. Smith did not build a team that could win in Detroit. Scrap Iron was just a casualty in an attempt to turn things around. Detroit hasn't been a "Crown Jewel" for a decade. There new Ball park, while Beautiful, is like playing in the grand canyon. Smith should have assembled a team comprised of quality pitching, and good hitters with speed. The teams big bat in Dean Palmer spends more time on the D.L. than Rondell White. Overall, the team is not good. Waiting 6 games into the season to drop the axe is in poor taste. The reason was Dombrowski said he didn't like the way Spring Training went. Then can them then.

And despite the Tiger's 0-6 record, and the possiblity of Jim Rome calling for a 0-162 season (although it might guaruntee a tour stop), the Tigers will eventually pull off about 60 wins or so.

I'm just curious now though, as to who will sign up for manager of the Tiger's. I have heard names like Alou and such, but do they want to take over a team that is in such horrible shape?

Thing started going wrong for Smithester when he decided Juan Gonzalez would be a perfect fit for the new stadium.

Hire Champ Summers as manager, Ron LeFlore GM, Tom Veryzer Hitting Coach, Vern Ruhle Pitching Coach, and for the love of God convince Ernie Harwell to stick around so we here in Cleveland, Ohio can listen on a clear night.

Cleveland, eh Bernie? The Tigers have become the Indians of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Ugh. (But I like your coaching staff selections.)

Talk about an organization in complete disaray! I have to disagree with you, KROC. I think a house-cleaning was in order in Detroit. The Motor City Kitties weren't going anywhere with Garner, and it's time for some fresh blood and some fresh thinking. What Randy Smith has done to that organization is atrocious.

Yet one question which is kind of a side subject-when will the Tigers move in the fences at Comerica? I mean, they'll never attract big-name talent with a Death Valley like that. That's the big reason Juan Gonzalez didn't stay there two years ago.

And I'll bet Bobby Higginson is just dying to leave there, too. Any team in baseball would take that guy. He's a player.

But on a lighter note; HOW 'BOUT THAT TRIBE!!

Most fans here in Detroit dont go to see the tigers play when they go to Comerica Park.. its more of a family night thing where you go sit in the open and eat alot of food..

Ernie Harwell should stick around...

and the general mood around Detroit is that the TIGERS SUCK!
