Friday's Question of the Day: What is your favorite brand of mobile phones / smart phones, and why?
For me, personally, I've only had two phones:
1. Sony Ericsson J210i (2006 - 2008)
2. Nokia E66 (2008 - present)
For anyone familiar with phones, they will know that the J210i is as basic as it gets. There is practically nothing on there except voice calls and text messages. No bluetooth, no camera, no music. Nothing.
The E66 is different, it comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera, has video calling, has Wi-Fi and 3G, has video and music playback, and basically it is the best phone I've had so far, hands down. But I haven't been completely satisfied with the Symbian OS that Nokia runs, and with so many new phones coming out such as the Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm and iPhone 3GS it is hard to see me getting another Nokia when I switch phones in 1 years time.
So, my pick, out of the 2: Nokia
Nothing fancy, nothing too intuitive, but Nokia is solid and sturdy, a true workhorse.
What are your choices?
Suggestions
Nokia
Motorola
Research In Motion (BlackBerry)
Apple
Palm
HTC
LG
Samsung
Sony Ericsson
Fujitsu

Just got an Iphone 3g which I will be handing off to my mother when my 3gs comes in. Have to say it is even better than the hype I love it! I've always been a basic practical phone type person partly because sprint has such crap phones.

I have a Nokia E51. Nice and compact, does exactly what I want. The screen is a reasonable size, the browser is quick, keys are big enough to type an sms without having to look at them and the menu structure is the standard Nokia layout so it is easy to learn.
The only thing I have against it is the lack of a proper car kit, like the one I had for my 6310i.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

I have an iPhone 3GS on AT&T Wireless. Before that I had a BlackBerry Curve 8310 on AT&T and have been very happy. I love my new iPhone.

I'm also a current iPhone 3G user, and will wait a bit longer till my parents to get the 3GS. Yet I still love my iPhone and love its versatility!
The journey of life is not based on the accomplishments, but the experience.

Nokia E75, awesome phone with full keyboard and lot of features for a rather small phone.
I used the E65 and E66 before and they were good as well.
I'm interested in the Nokia E75. How does it compare to the Nokia E66? Does the phone generally load faster, or is the user interface pretty much the same?

The interface is pretty much the same. Pretty much the same functions, but I have the feeling it is a tad faster. The GPS seems to be stronger and faster to get your position, the WiFi antenna seems to be strong as well. No infrared anymore. And the keyboard is just something which makes life a lot easier when browsing through the internet with the phone or sending emails. It is a full QWERTZ (or QWERTY) keyboard.
I can only highly recommend the E75.

Out of all the phones I've had, Motorolla, Nokia, Siemens and Samsung. I've really come to like Samsungs, the ones I've had have been dropped so many times (even into snow) and the just keep going. Never had a problem with any of them but I do have one complaint, it seems that they have very weak antennas built in. I lose reception with the quite easily at times.
My current phone that I've had for the last 2.5 years is the Samsung SGH-D807 and is still going strong ...
... but it is time for something a bit more modern.

T-Mobile's G1 does it for me. Great touch screen mobile, powered by Google.

Want it.
I was happy with my unlocked(from AT&T to T-Mobile) Curve 8310. But it started to "crap" out.
So i'm back on my V3xx RAZR.
Motorola makes the best phones. No doubt. No arguments...

I've had 5 phones over the years and by far my favorite so far has been my Palm Treo 650, quick, simple to use, took a beating and kept working, until a 10ft drop across a parking lot finally did her in. Worst by far was my Motorola Q. I went thru five, yes FIVE before I finally got pissed off at it and bought my palm. Never buying another motorola phone ever.

Dear god, there are motorola koolaid drinkers? I thought that was reserved for iphone owners?
Doors open, right hand side, next stop is Springfield.

Quoting ACDC8 (Reply 20): I'd never by one again Wink. Don't hold a charge, complex menus, crappy speakers. Nope, I'd rather be wireless-less than by another Moto.
Well most likely you're experience involved an older model phone.
However!
ZN5. Wow. That phone is beast.
Not to mention WIFI! and a 8 MP(dont quote me on that) camera, from Kodak!
Maybe my next phone.
iPhone is crap.
Pretty sure even the "crappy" RAZR can send and receive MMS.

Last one I had was back in 2005/06 around there. I'm sure they're getting better and I'm sure a lot of people have had good experiences with them, but I'm not ready to give them another chance just yet ....

LOL, alright. I'm only partial because I've had 5 different models.
