Well...time for me to shine my crystal ball as the image it conveyed this afternoon for me was wrong!

Veron, in his best position, played well. Solsjkaer does what's expected of him and Utd feel so sorry for Deportivo that they decide a couple of own goals.

Injuries for Beckham (out 6 to 8 weeks), Johnson and Veron.

The Beckham one is serious as it will cut into the beginning of the World Cup - will he be risked?

Prediction for the Final: Man Utd 2 Real Madrid 1.

David/MAN

I predict a Man Utd/Real Madrid final too although they both have tough oppositions in Bayer leverkusen and Barcelona. If it's a United/Real final then, i expect Real madrid to win it on the basis they have better players than united IMO

That's JohnsEn  Laugh out loud

I think it's har to predict how well United will doon the road to the final, with all the injuries espescially. But the subs also played well last night. Fortune did many good runs, and Wes Brown performed well too.

Thom@s, I think I must have been writing in the Mancunian accent Embarrassment

Conspiracy theory: bloker who knobbled Beckham is Argentinian. Anyone care to "accidentally" mistime a tackle on a certain Argentinian player in the last game of the season?

The ideal scenario would be during the Man Utd-Arsenal match. Veron and Ljungberg fly into a tackle on each other, injuring their knees. Nwankwo Kanu runs to their assistance, but incredibly, causes the detonation of an unexploded WW2 bomb which has laid undetected beneath the Old Trafford turf. He too lies injured on the turf, unable to participate in anything this summer.

Wonder what odds I could get at the bookies on that happening?  Big thumbs up

As you know I couldn't give a stuff about United, but Beckham's injury is a disaster for England. He'll go to the World Cup if there is any possibility of him playing, but without him England are a pale shadow.

We should be used to this now, it always seems to happen to England. Keegan and Brooking; Robson (twice), Gascoigne (self-inflicted) and now Beckham. Our best players all seem to get injured just before a World Cup. It's going to be touch and go with this one. I'm sure that Argentina is celebrating right now. And I'm sure we'd be secretly pleased if it was Veron in this position.

Ryanb741 you'll probably get the same odds for that as you would for Man City playing premiership football in the 2002/03 season...

BCalDC10, Keegan has just admitted that City are keen to sign Davids and Effenberg. With that calibre of player the target (to go with Benarbia, Berkovic, Huckerby and Wright-Phillips), would you care to revise that last statement?

Oh, and a congratulations on hammering the rest of the First Division (and the occasional Premiership side) wouldn't go amiss either... Big grin

no I won't revise it Banco because track record, history etc suggests a trip down at the end of the season. Twas actually a joke on their yo-yo esque style to their seasons.

I personally hope they stay up as I like em, and look forward to some quality Manchester derbys.

No, I think they'll be OK next year. They've been improving as a club for the last five years, since Bernstein took over as chairman. Mind you, it would be nice to have a nice dull season which didn't involve a change of division for once. But I think with Keegan at the helm they will be a different proposition.

Still, with the only club ever to win the league title one year and get relegated the next (despite being the leading goalscorers) anything is possible...

The ideal scenario would be if Vieira goes in for a crunching tackle on Veron in the United-Arsenal match, ruling him out of the world cup, then we go on to win the match and wrap up the title! Big grin
