Israel uses Hitler picture to sell its settlement expansion
Foreign minister orders diplomats to circulate photo ahead of discussions with President Obama's envoy
Avigdor Lieberman, Israel's foreign minister, has triggered fresh controversy by urging diplomats abroad to use a 1941 photograph of a Palestinian religious leader meeting Hitler to counter protests against a planned Jewish settlement in Arab East Jerusalem.

That wasn't a bright move. If things get out of hand, it will be an embarrassment to the Israeli government. Lieberman will probably end up loosing his cabinet position.
No matter how random things may appear, there's always a plan.

Great. Israel is now starting to act like the former tormentors of the Jews and now they do THIS?
I don't think it's a good idea. It's another hopeless move that will not solve any problems between Israel and Palestine nor between Israel and the rest of the world.

Quoting MD11Engineer (Reply 5): Are they quoting Hitler´s claim for more Lebensraum in the East?
I wouldn't be suprised. Lieberman is a racist and his ideas often have similarities with the despicably conceptions of the Nazis.
It's a ridiculous move that he use Hitler to blame Obama.

Quoting YOWza (Reply 9): This is a shit idea and will backfire.
The whole settlement idea was a stupid idea. In fact, the more settlements the Israelis establish the less likely the West Bank and East Jerusalem can ever be separated from Israel. This will leave one country from the Mediterranean to the Jordan river, with a soon to be, if not already, majority Arab population.
If Israel wishes to survive as a Jewish state, it will have no choice but to expel the Arabs, or abandon any territory with an Arab majority and to concentrate Jewish population in a smaller area to assure a Jewish majority.
Even if Israel were to go back to its pre 1967 boundaries, it would still have an Arab population that is expected to approach around 30% in the coming years.
The way demographics are playing out in this region, the long term outlook for Israel does not look good. The settlements are making it even worse.
