What Would You Do With $8 Billion?

You know how much $8 billion dollars is? Well if you had that much money and you spent $10,000 a day, it would take you 2,000 years to spend it all. If I had $8 billion dollars, I would first take care of my immediate family members, then relatives, etc. Then I would go to all corners of the globe (world) and help the poor people who are suffering not just by hunger, but by wealth and a standard quality of life. I wouldnt just donate the money, I would personally hire people to build homes, schools, hospitals, roads, airports and other industries to help the poor rise like angels. From the beginning of humanity, it was never about money, fame, and fortune are worth less than a grain of sand. What only matters in life is God, Family, and Love, and the rest is taken care of. What would you do with $8 billion?

I would enjoy spending it.  yes

-Go to HMV and buy every CD they have that I want.
-Attend every concert I could ever want to go to, no matter where it is in the world I would be there.
-Buy multiple trips to space
-Fly everywhere first class
-Also buy my own private 777-300ER and A380-900
-Restore a Concorde to flight

And whatever other stupid random things I can think of because I know I'll probably never run out.  bigthumbsup

Order a VIP A380, Concorde, and DC-10 and fly all around the world. Expand my house and add a lot of cool stuff to it. Donate 2 billion to charities. Go to a very nice college to get a good education and when I'm older I would start a world class airline based at MSP with a fleet of C Series and A350s. And lots of other stuff I could burn tons of cash on.

Not quite true. Great wars have been fought throughout history just for money/fame/fortune in form of land, control and prestige.....and tribes through even earlier history have fought over crops, animals and women.

I would create a charity and donate a few billion.

The rest I would spend on my family and friends and just live a ridiculous over the top life. Oh, and I'd probably buy a lot of art and historical pieces and just destroy them.

SInce I can't edit the other reply, here's one thing I'd definitely buy:

- A large busy airport with international flight e.g. YYZ or JFK or LHR and then build a my living quarters above the control tower. That way I have the best view for most of the airport area (well the one that matters anyways). Oh, and I would be allowed too drag race Ferrari enzo and the like on the runways at the low activity times.

After doing lots of charitable things etc....I would start my own airline dedicated to aviation lovers and I would restore and buy as many classic aircraft as possible for my airlines fleet.

Instead of just the basic moving map available on personal TV screens you would instead get a full flightplan with runway and SID/STAR departures, waypoints etc.... and a tour of the cockpit upon request!

I know it would be impratical but still....perhaps it could work, especially if you had a shed load of money to throw at it!

With $8B, I probably would
- start my own airline
- make sure my local airport doesn't close because of lack of traffic
- buy a house in every major city I like (I'd start from NYC)
- buy the company I work for and make the competition's life harder thanks to the money we could then invest in marketing

Don't you mean you'd buy a controlling interest in F9 so that you could be sure they'd emerge from bankruptcy as a stand-alone carrier?  Wink

I did give serious theoretical thought to doing this myself (in the context of this thread, anyway), but F9 serves neither my home airport (BHM) nor my adopted home airport (RNO), so I have zero experience flying with them. On the other hand, I suppose if I bought a controlling interest in the airline I could persuade F9 to begin serving both BHM and RNOBig grin

What Would You Do With $8 Billion?

Two things.

First and foremost and before anything else, I would make sure to get me a trip to the Internatinal Space Station and spend some time up there as a paying visitor before they get it scrapped in 2016. I would leave it up to NASA on how long I would be allowed to stay and would pay the asked price. I think the last visitor paid $30 Million for his trip to the ISS so I suppose it will cost me a bit more than this, let's say $35M.

Number 2. I would pay all the money it takes to return a British Airways Concorde to full flying condition. I would leave it to a panel of experts in the UK which Concorde would be more appropriate to return to flight. The fully restored aircraft would exclusively be used to fly during Air Shows and training flights. I would make sure there are enough spare parts to keep her flying in good condition for as long as possible, 50 years or more. British Airways and Singapore Airlines would have exclusive shared rights on the flying Concorde and maintenance after she is returned to flight. She would wear the Singapore Airilnes livery on one side and the British Airways livery on the other side and retain her original registration.

Wtth whatever leftover money I will buy myself a small place in Singapore and another small place in the UK near where the flying Concorde will reside so I can see her flying as much as possible until my last day.

Then among a lot of things that would come to mind I would also...
-give a lot to my mother, close family and friends.
-travel again and again, everywhere.
-stop working.
-buy parts of my company and share the benefits with employees.
-give to charity and research organizations.
-take photography courses.

Oh, I guess I would have a lot of friends by then  Wink

Just when you think a meme has disappeared Big grin. What, was this the over 9000th time it's popped up for me now?

Anyway, I would donate, donate, donate, then spend on my self, family and friends.

Some specifics:
-Buy a personal fleet of airplanes ranging from the Cessna 172 and Piper Warrior all the way up to the 77W.
-Start an airline. Why not?
-Buy Amtrak, and retool some things, and get some things back in oreder (transcontinental Sunset Limited!)
-Find a way to reunite the people at Rifftrax and Cinimatic Titanic to make MST3K again.
-Build a Las Vegas Casino and be all Steve Winn about it.
-Donate $ to things so I can name buildings and structures to my whim.
-Build an secret Underground Lair from where I can hold the Earth hostage for One Million Dollars
-Buy all the abandoned missile silos in North Dakota and fill them with flax for the future.
-Establish an umbrella cooperation for all this to run under.

That's all I can think of, right now.

Don't you want to hang out and waste your life with us?
