I am looking at working in the international tourism business when I leave school and graduate from University or TafeSA, and am wondering what sort of jobs there are in this area.

What sort of requirements would I need for such a job?

I guess it depends on what sector of the market you're looking at getting into.

What sectors are there? I haven't looked into that part yet.

Start with a job at your local big hotel chain - they will transfer you in a matter of years if you are good enough and you won't look back!!

Just remember - to get the good stuff you have to start somewhere!! Don't go straight in for the kill first up - work your way to where you want to be.

Start now before you graduate as a bell boy or something easy to get into - it is amazing how much your early work can influence your career path as you grow and move on. My first job actually got me to where I am today and at the time I never would have thought it mattered - almost took it off my CV.

Actually for a SA boy you should consider Hayman Island over your break - they are hiring and I think you would love it there - staff from all around the world (US/Canada mostly).
