In the spirit of "Greatest Sports Icons" thread, let's turn it around and hand out the bad apples or sour grapes awards to the worst teams or athletes for their records, curses, bad attitude, rivals,on and off-field antics and whatever else that fits that they deserve this dubious award.

I'll start:

Hated:
Al Davis and America's Ghetto Team, the Oakland Raiders.I've prettying much said what I think of the Traitor Raiders and they're city loyalties and ripping off people's money. So I'll say while the Raiders have one hell a merchandising department, but of recent, they can't play football worth s**t.Prehaps when Davis leaves,I'll have a better opinion.

The Rams leaving Los Angeles.
O J Simpson
Vick

Records:
2008 Detroit Lions

Cursed:

The LA Angels and Boston Red Sox.The Angels can't seem to win In the playoffs against the Red Sox.

I agree with that sentiment, but our biggest rival right now is Baltimore, in the Steelers' case.

As for the Penguins, it's hands-down Flyers first, Capitals second. I have never seen two fanbases that whine more about doing less.

That is unfair. Ray Lewis is a great person. What evidence do you have that the man is a "super thug" or are you just pulling random assumptions outta your  butthead . Name a defensive player and leader for a team in the last ten years that is better than Ray Lewis.

P.S. the ravens are not the most hated NFL team. Where do you get this from? I think you might a steeler fan. If anything, i'd say the Patriots are, and i'm a Pat's fan.

Red Sox (we liked you when you were cursed, but now your fans are simply too obnoxious and yankee-like)

Some of us are still nice...

As for hated sports teams, put me down for the Bonds-era San Francisco Giants (literally no-one liked them outside the Bay Area because of him) and the Mets (I've always said that the only thing worse than a Yankees fan is a Mets fan) for baseball.

As for other sports:

-Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona (both suffer from bad cases of Steinbrenner Syndrome)
-Ferrari, McLaren and Williams in F1 (their conduct on and off the track is nothing short of embarassing)
-Denver Broncos (even though he's long gone, I'll forever associate John Elway with the team)
-Calgary Flames (I've never met anyone outside Calgary who feels anything but disdain for them, which makes them unique amongst hockey teams)

As for teams hard up on their luck, I present the Philadelphia Phillies. Don't let their recent success fool you; they have the most losses of any professional sports team on the planet, with well over 10,000 and counting.

I was living in the Dallas Metroplex when Jerry bought the team. You would have thought the world was ending. And when it was announced that Tom Landry was being shown the door and Jimmy Johnson was being ushered it - well let's just say that the news specials on the local networks were akin to those of when JFK was killed in Dallas.

I agree with FuturePilot16, what evidence do you have against Ray Lewis? He is one of the last remaining class acts left in the NFL. He plays as hard as anyone on the field, but there's a reason he'll go up to players at the end of the game and give them hugs. He seems like a truly nice person.

As for me:

College:

Oklahoma Sooners (bunch of classless idiots  Silly)
Texas A&M Aggies (tee hee)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (wake me up when they're relevant again...no matter how much Lou Holtz thinks they are)
Arkansas Razorbacks (bunch of classless idiot inbreds)

Pro:

Washington Redskins
Philadelphia Eagles
NY Giants
Oakland Raiders
Chicago Cubs
New York Yankees
St. Louis Cardinals
Los Angeles Lakers

But I'm not opinionated at all  Silly

Cheers,
Cameron

Not our fault the other teams from the NFC East consistently decide not to show up  Wink

Teams I thoroughly dislike:
NFL - Eagles, Redskins, Giants, 49ers, Packers, in that order
NHL - Sharks with a passion that borders on holy, Red Wings, any team that has ever had Bryan Marchment on it
MLB - BoSox. By the way, real class act last night, Varitek, having two consecutive pitchers throw at Kinsler's head after we stole 8 bases against you, one of them hitting Kinsler in the shoulder and head. Not anybody else's fault that you should have retired three years ago.
Football - Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Birmingham
College Football (American Football) - Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Florida State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC. And Oklahoma. I am not a fan of Texas A&M either, but they would actually have to have a football team for me to even care  Wink

117 A332 : Or... you folks enjoy boring sports.
118 NWAESC : *Most reviled team: Seattle Sounders *Close 2nd & 3rd: UW Huskies & Wazzu *After that: Oregon State Beavers *Rounding out the top 5: Seattle Mariners
119 LTU932 : Why do you hate the German national team? Is it because we always play best against the Swiss?
120 RayChuang : Actually, the teams that tend to engender the most hostility have the following characteristics: 1) They've been successful because the team could aff
121 Fruitbat : Given that the sole purpose of most sports invented in North America is to fill the gaps between the adverts on TV, I don't think you've got a leg to
122 KL642 : After 30 years I have come to the following conclusion: POTVIN STILL SUCKS! I hate the Islanders, Devils & Flyers.
123 UAXDXer : The DALLAS COWBOYS.... hands down!
124 Elite : He was still a fan favorite, and was pretty damn dominant during his peak. Only later in his career did it get messier. Again, a fan favorite who was
125 Bongodog1964 : Boring, what about baseball, goes on for 8 innings, hour after hour, and then the final score is 1-0. At least cricket players mangae to hit the ball
126 AirframeAS : It was more than just the illegal block on Hasselbeck (Which was a legal touchdown, BTW...), it was the entire game. If you look at the stats for Sea
127 Steeler83 : I think you're confusing the illegal block with the offensive pass interference call in the 1st half. Regarding hat pass interference penalty, I have
128 FlyDeltaJets87 : A 1-0 game in baseball is quite rare. A few weeks ago, ESPN highlighted that in one day, they had three 1-0 games in one day, which was the first tim
129 GrahamHill : Teams I hate in football: - Real Madrid - Inter Milan - Chelsea - Olympique Marseille Players I hate: - All Madrid players - Marco Materazzi - Harald
130 Fruitbat : And it can mean the same thing in football (soccer) just as it can in other sports... Sounds like the same sort of oversimplification i'd use to desc
131 GrahamHill : Well, football is famous everywhere in the world apart from the USA and Canada (and maybe Australia as well) while American football and baseball are
132 Bongodog1964 : The dirty cheating specimen is very easy to take a dislike to. He has more trouble standing up than Cristiano Ronaldo
133 SpeedyGonzales : Until the UK stops pretending to be four countries in football, I wish every british team 22 broken legs and 11 red cards in international tournaments
134 FlyDeltaJets87 : I hate basketball, at least at the pro-level. 10 guys out there all trying to show off instead of playing as a team. I do watch college basketball, o
135 GrahamHill : My point exactly. Fair enough, but in soccer as well you can have some good scoring. The last Clásico between Madrid and Barcelona ended 2-6.
136 Us330 : I can't believe I am about to say this...but, in defense of Bettman (hell has officially frozen over), the move to Versus actually was quite smart--y
137 AirframeAS : Actually, I was referring to the entire game, not just that one play or two. The Steelers stole that game, period. I don't care how you slice it, the
138 FlyDeltaJets87 : But you and I both know games like that are an aberration. Where as lacrosse regularly sees both teams scoring over 10 goals. Syracuse defeated Duke
139 Steeler83 : What ever... I don't remember seeing that on the news out here, and I'd bet that it would just as big a story, if not bigger, than Vick or Favre, but
140 FatmirJusufi : You sure you hate all of them?! LOL
141 LTU932 : Well, I can't speak for him, but I can add this: I do hate Kaká for being a fucking sellout (first he claims that he will retire in Milan, but now h
142 FlyDeltaJets87 : As someone who watched that game from a neutral standpoint after both my teams (Giants and Bengals) were eliminated in the first round of the playoff
143 Texan : Ronaldo spends more time on his back than a $10 hooker. Can't stand him. Texan
144 Post contains images Stratosphere : This is what that scumbag Michael Vick took pleasure in doing...Think he is repentant? Think again..Twisted minds never get untwisted...He is going t
145 GrahamHill : Ok, fair enough once again If you like fast-paced team sports, you would like Hurling then. Yes, I do. Actually, the only time where I did not dislik
146 FatmirJusufi : Oh, lovely moneys... LOL
147 Us330 : Yes, while Texas has a pop of 24 million, the DFW metro area has a population of 6.3 million (do you really think fans in El Paso are going to fly in
148 EDICHC : You quite obviously need to to spend a bit of time in the UK to realise the folly of that statement. To many Scots, Welsh and Irish it's a case of 4
149 Revelation : It is kind of interesting how you have this huge goal to shoot at but frequently end up with 0-0 or 0-1 score lines.
150 Bongodog1964 : IMO it due to the rules being fairly even handed between offence and defence, unlike say basketball where the defence have few lawful ways of stoppin
151 GrahamHill : Maybe it's also due to the fact that playing with feet is not as accurate as playing with hands. Just my
152 Revelation : Good point. Maybe everyone should play wearing blindfolds - that'd be a really challenging sport!
153 FlyDeltaJets87 : The refs already do this when it comes to officiating. I think it has less to do with accuracy and more to do with the fact that it's much more diffi
154 GrahamHill : That's sometimes true. The problem also comes from the number of refs on the pitch: one on the field, two on each side and who are not allowed to go
155 ER757 : I think the Hawks definitely got screwed by some terrible calls, but to say that the Steelers were "cheaters" is to infer that they somehow had some
156 Steeler83 : I like both of these posts. Thanks for backing me up! If one was to say that they have proof that the Steelers were part of the "fix" I would have to
157 AirframeAS : I don't think Flydeltajets87 was actually backing you up, nor backing me up. He was neutral observant. IMO, that rule is stupid. The officials were n
158 Steeler83 : Sorry, he was one of the radio announcers for the Steelers... I have the 2005 season DVD and it had his commentary on some of the plays. He didn't th
159 USPIT10L : Hillgrove seems shocked about everything, but that's nothing new. If you're listening on radio, you need Tunch or Wolfley to tell you anything constr
160 Steeler83 : Oh yeah... especially like when he thought James Harrison was tackled at about the 50 during his historic interception return for a TD in Super Bowl
161 FlyDeltaJets87 : No but the point I was trying to make was draw a circle from Dallas and see how far you have to go before you run into another NHL team, and consider
162 USPIT10L : The only problem is Sterling thinks he's God's gift of baseball announcers and acts that way. Hillgrove just can't call the action as it happens.
163 PIA777 : Teams: Baseball - St. Louis Cardinals/ New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox Football - Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys Hockey - Detroit Red Wings Bask
164 Ferengi80 : Soccer: I absolutely detest Manchester United with a passion! They are the most arrogant, self centred bunch of arses I know! I hate Wayne Rooney, thi
165 AirframeAS : No. The rule should be both the ball and the player must be fully inside the endzone to earn the touchdown, similar to what the NCAA and High School
166 TheCol : The entire CFL NHL: Toronto - Might as well pack it in. Calgary - Just a bunch punks that try to act like thugs, simply because they have nothing else
167 NA : Teams I dislike: -F1: Williams -Football (soccer): Schalke 04, VfL Bochum, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and I love it if record champion Bayern Munich has a
168 Qantasistheway : Firstly it's a pitch not a court and secondly that happens rarely and is usually because the keeper is running back from a last second attacking move
169 GrahamHill : I always asked myself the same question
170 SpeedyGonzales : That's their problem, not everybody elses. If UK if four countries, then Germany is 16 and USA 50. No other countries comprised of several nationalit
171 NA : While the 4 country treatment for the UK is stupid (though its an old tradition I guess dating back from the times of Queen Victoria when the UK was
172 Fruitbat : American Football isn't a riot, the players wear pads and helmets for protection!!! Now, a decent game of Rugby Union, THATS a riot....eye gouging, s
173 Bongodog1964 : Ever seen a veteran Rugby Union player ? Face like a bag of spanners, nose pointing in three directions at the same time, and cauliflower ears. Defin
174 EDICHC : Perhaps that may have something to do with being the birthplace of the beautiful game. Simple fact is the four UK football associations (FA, SFA, WFA
175 EI747SYDNEY : Tottenham Hotspur...I'm an Arsenal fan by the way
176 ExFATboy : Let's see - teams and sports I hate: MLB: Red Sox...there was no curse, your team just sucked for decade after decade! I was glad you finally won the
177 AirframeAS : I'm with you on that one, bro! I am still trying to figure out what makes ND special and why they even have that ridiculous NBC contract for.... They

179 OAKBWIfella : Baseball: Being from Maryland, I HATE HATE HATE those damn Yankees with a passion. I still won't get over the 1996 ALCS against my Baltimore Orioles,
180 FlyDeltaJets87 : The Soviet Union did in the Olympics, IIRC. The satellite states represented themselves. And Puerto Rico does now. Puerto Rico competes independently
181 RootsAir : Football players: Cristiano Ronaldo (tho he plays for Real Madrid) Wayne Rooney Roberto Baggio Didier Drogba Nicolas Anelka ...and many more Football
182 DeltaRules : Most disliked/hated athlete overall: Danica Patrick NHL teams: -Nashville -Calgary (don't really hate them but they're growing on me in a bad way) -De
183 Aviationmaster : Its because we always show our worst performance against you guys. Its not really hate - more like a love-hate relationship. Usually the German team
