Probably risking my forum membership here, but what the heck!
On the forum pages, it indicates the purpose of the forums on A.net. Included for this forum is the following line;
This is also the place for suggestions, comments and constructive criticism related to any part of Airliners.net.
Sadly, this appears to be somewhat untrue. Yesterday, someone posted a comment regarding the banner adverts on the site. I considered his post "fair and constructive" critisicm. I replyed with my own comment, wondering how long it would be before the post was locked or deleted. I will also admit that I commented on the increase of pop-under ads coinciding with the availibility of paid membership (risky I know!). As it happened, it was a little longer than the 30 minutes I predicted before the thread was locked! It does appear that the few times ANY post that says ANYTHING negative about this site comes up, particularly in relation to the insiduous pop-under ads (which are always the same as the banner ad at that moment - does someone think we can't read the first time?), that thread instantly has a very short life expectancy.
My point. I would suggest that the above comment is removed from the description of the purpose of this forum as it is pretty clear of Johan's opinions of such posts. My feedback (constructive criticism?) would be, if you can't handle certain things, don't provide the facility. I would suggest providing an alternative place to direct such comments, but as they would be ignored anyway it would be a waste of time. It appears that a more realistic ruling would be "constructive criticism related to any part of Airliners.net can be stuffed up your own backside"
Before anyone does crash in and say it, criticism is rare I know as A.net is overall an excellent site and I know it's free and revenue has to be made somewhere etc. etc. I also have mellowed my own posting somewhat to avoid so-called "flamebaiting," though will naturally comment on anything I agree/disagree with. (Hell, even KROC agreed with one of my posts yesterday - I had to go out and get some fresh air after that! )
I just feel that there is a certain "attitude" towards anyone who has offered what is invited above. If I recall correctly, even those who have complained of problems pop-under ads crashing older computers, as used to happen to me, get treated with a certain amount of contempt.
What are others thoughts, if you can get them in before the post is locked - which I'm sure will happen soon.

As I pointed out in the Commonwealth Games thread, KROC's becoming more British by the day. It is hardly surprising that he is suddenly agreeing with you!

Okay, now I am really getting worried. I love cucumbers, and have been known to make a cucumber sandwich on occasion. Ta ta all. I'm off to see my shrink.

Let me clarify, when France wins a war in modern times! Liechtenstein does not count anyway. I could get a group of dudes from my street, and take over Liechtenstein.

I fully agree with AMSMAN...this thread got way off line, almost 15 posts of stuff completely off the topic...
Why do I bother reading these posts now? This happens in almost every thread...errr...

Eal401, notice how when you discuss a topic in an intelligent fashion and one that hasn't been discussed numerous times already it stays? Even though it "criticizes" the site. I am not the one who locked the banner thread, but my guess to the reason behind it was it has been discussed many times already & then you suggesting it to be locked or deleted in your post probably didn't help. If that thread had been as serious as this one it probably would have stayed, but since it was just about the ads and what people think of them it got archived because we have had so many of those in the past. That's my guess as to what happened, like I said I am not the mod who locked it. You aren't risking your membership simply by posting constructive criticism, that's an exaggeration. If most criticisms were as well explained as this one and said more than "*insert part of a.net* sucks and is unfair" they wouldn't disappear. Personally I don't agree with your opinion on this, but at least you presented it in a good manner. This thread should prove that you can offer as much constructive criticism as you want, just put some thought into it and make sure there aren't 30 other topics on it already.
Peace,
-Chris

USAFHummer, go to the "What do you see in your room" thread. If you are lucky, in doing that thread, you might find a box of kleenex you can use to wipe away your tears with.
Yyz717. After I "lost" that one cucumber, I have since stuck to just eating them.

Cucumber sandwhiches are about 100 years old and is not funny, time to get up to date, unfortunately more likely to be a McDonalds with a gerkin.

26 USAFHummer: Well since this topic is getting way off topic and stands as much chance of recovery as Robert Downey Jr., I might as well keep it up...KROC...I expec

31 Metwrench: Yeah, I need free condoms, they are so expensive, I have to go with out food for days to purchase one. Actually, it is more likely a "Public Service"
32 AMSMAN: Well so far we've actually went from he topic of Constructive Critsism, then to KROC becoming British, then to Cucumbers, then to "Shaft" and then to
33 Banco: Anyway, KROC, I thought that you called them "zucchini" in the States? Or is this another British slant?
34 Eal401: No that's corgettes (excuse spelling - disgusting veg anyway) if I remember correctly.
