Im curious.

I've been eating this cereal called kashi. I only have it once a week.

3 hours later , usually have an upset stomach. And I have a cast iron stomach usually.

Anyone else notice that after they've eaten it?

A sensible person would take the hint and stop eating it.

Too much fibre for you perhaps?

How true. While this is the third episode, I still wonder if its a common thing.

As for Fiber, its not an issue. Gotta cast iron stomach. But must be part of getting old!

I bought kashi recently because it was on sale for 2.50 a box at albertsons and yes, I was disappointed. It is literally tasteless. For healthy cereals with a good amount of vitamins and minerals, pricewise you can do a whole lot better and those brands will even taste a whole lot better.

As for an upset stomach, mine personally gets weird about certain food but it is generally strong as well. I want to say that kashi in combination with something else such as coffee or processed cheese later in the day could have give me a weak stool but again I typically don't take note unless I have a truly bad bathroom episode. Recently what I've discovered is processed cheese from certain fast food places such as Arby's, In N out, and el Pollo Locco makes my stomach weak. Surprisingly other joints such as Carls Jr. will not do that...

Good cereals that taste good and are good for you that aren't kashi:

--Any quaker cereal...(Honey graham o's, oatmeal squares)
--Total. And BTW: the cinnamon crunch version tastes just like 'cinnamon toast crunch'
--Fiber one is alright...

I would have said, regardling the tasteless part, try "Kashi Go Lean Crunch!" That seems to be the one throwing off my stomach.

Its an odd thing though. Thankfully the Kashi cookies taste great  Smile

I have a problem with the way some tofu is prepared. For example, I can do Tofutti Cuties ice cream sandwiches, but I can NOT take cooked tofu in any form. I wonder if that is what is going on with you?

Tofu. I won't even go near it. I jokingly ruse my family about that.

The mere concept of Tofu bothers me! But to each their own.

Same here, tried two different varieties, and must say they are by far the most boring tasting cereals I've ever spent money on... and down here, it's a heck of a lot more than the $2.50 you paid - more like $12.50. (Though having said that, it's hard to find *any* cereal for less than $6 on this island, and this Kashi stuff was a larger box.)  Sad

As for upset stomach though... no, can't say I made that observation.

GAH!!! We are Kashi fanatics in my house. The best two cereals by far are the Heart to Heart and Go Lean Crunch (must be crunch, the non-crunch go lean is admittedly a bit bland).

Try those before you write off Kashi. They have a lot of products, so some are not so good but those two are amazing imho

Never had the upset stomach problem with Kashi (which I'm a fan of).

I'd just stop eating it if I were you. There are other cereals out there.

I have similar problems with coffee too, but strangely not always (unless I have a huge amount of coffee, than it's a sure bet). It could be the creamer though.

ps: haven't had Kashi ceral, but I had their TV dinners. . .I rather avoid it. I had their waffles too, and weren't great either (edible, though). . but they were low fat/whole wheat and with extra protein and fibers, so I didn't expect to be that awesome anyways.

Which Kashi are you eating? I have never had a stomach issue with Kashi, and I have been a regular consumer of both Go Lean and Go Lean Crunch.

Go LEan Crunch. I dunno. A few variables to play with. I only have it on Mondays, and get a funny feeling by 1300, which annoys my workout an hour or two later.

But its funny. Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Skim, and COffee. Usually 3 cups on a Monday.

May try it this week again. Could be just a case of the Mondays  Wink

There's your problem. Everything Kashi makes tastes like mulch. Healthy things can taste good but Kashi seems to ensure that never happens.

You're definitely paying for a lot of feel good nonsense, but ostensibly also higher quality ingredients.

What's the "funny feeling"? Some people just have trouble digesting certain grains...

Might be having uncultured milk not long before a workout is the problem.

Opinions and all.  Wink

I tend to like almost everything Kashi makes.

My parents have it, and I used to eat it when I'd go home for school breaks, but like you it always gave me an upset stomach. Like you, it would be later in the afternoon a number of hours after I ate it. I'd just say go to another cereal. I usually have a pretty tough stomach, but certain things make my system act weird.

I used to eat Cheerios all the time, but started to realize that it gave me gas and bloating, and then I'd have an episode in the afternoon. I pretty much figured out that anything with too much fiber in it makes my system go haywire. I can eat Corn Flakes, Rice Crispies, and other cereals like that. I love Puffins, too.

I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one.
