Wow what a day for me!

The Giants shut-out Tampa 24-0 in Tampa in the early game. Then the way the Bengals won over Pittsburgh for the first time since early 2006 was incredible (Sorry Steeler83. I won't gloat too much), scoring the go-ahead TD with less than 20 seconds left in the 4th.

And the Lion snap their 19 game losing streak. So since the Bengals won against PIT and the Lions beat somebody, I'm heading for the hills! The apocalypse is here now

That Favre TD pass was such bull, I can't stand him. I really like the niners this year though. It looks like they fight all 60 min and they're coach is tough. He has them realizing that they are all winners. A guy like singletary is what every team needs. Glad to see the broncos at 3-0 as well, after everyone said they would go 2-14. Scary that the ravens are this good and we have to play them next week.  banghead

What's border-line frustrating is had it not been for that fluke tipped-pass in Week 1 that led to the game winning touchdown against Cincinnati, the Bengals would be 3-0 instead of Denver. I'm just glad to see the Bengals are hopeful this season. They looked AWFUL in the first half against Pittsburgh today, to the point where I was about to leave the bar I was at, but the defense stepped up in the second-half, and the offense finally started making plays, and made me glad I stuck around.

Aw, do gloat!

Now there are two people who need to be run out of the Steel City:

Nutting, the owner of the Pirates, and Bruce Arians!! He is a d-bag!! How many times was Big Ben sacked today? I'm just curious...

The offense has no identity, just like back in 2003 when they had a 6-10 record!! They are not a winning team anymore. Arians says he wants to put the ball in Ben's hands more. Apparenlty that means giving up on the run pretty much, and what about that O-line? They couldn't protect Ben from an old lady with a walker!

And LeBeau, what the hell is wrong with your defense?!! That is NOT the same defense that ruled the NFL last year! The whole team blows this year! The Steelers look like s$#t this year!!
Don't tell me they'll be fine, because they said the same thing back in 2006, and look how they turned out...

Screw the Steelers for now! GO EAGLES!!!

Fire Brute Arians and convince someone like Bettis to be the coordinator. I think this team is in trouble again...

Quoting FlyDeltaJets87 (Thread starter):
The apocalypse is here now

It certainly looks that way for the 2009 Steelers. They will NOT repeat! They will NOT make the playoffs! I'd be willing to bet a month's worth of pay on that!!!!

FLyDeltaJets87, gloat all you want, mate! Your team beat a VERY WEAK team that for so long dominated over yours! Their so-called improved defense looks about as good as its offensive line...

Now, on to the Philadelphia Eagles, what was the final score, wasn't it like 27-3? So yeah, go E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles. I hope they have a good year this year. Pittsburgh is grounded...

No, I won't gloat. Because I still vividly remember a bunch of Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and New England Patriots fans gloating to me in the 2007 regular season after their teams beat the Giants, and then look at who the Giants beat in the Playoffs and the Super Bowl that year. It's the same reason I'm not gloating too much about the Yankees sweeping Boston this weekend to clinch the AL East. There's a good chance they will meet again next month, and that will be the one that counts, and the only one that matters. The season is still young, and there's time for Pittsburgh to get their act together. Fortunately for them, one of their two losses was to an NFC team (Chicago) and those are the games that hurt you the least when it comes down to tie-breakers for the Wild Card.

I don't know what Marvin Lewis said to the Bengals in the locker room during halftime, but whatever he said, it worked. The Bengals had their ass handed to them every way in the first half. Only some quality Red Zone defense and a good 2 minute drill by Palmer in the first half kept that score to 13-3 instead of 21-3 going into half time. But the Bengals came out to play in the second half. It's like the two teams switched jerseys.

Ya know, that's somewhat similar to what happened to the Steelers in the 2002 wildcard game against Cleveland. It was then-QB Tommy Maddox who said to his team at halftime, "I believe we can win this game! If you don't agree with me, then you can wait here in the locker room."

They were facing one of the biggest deficits IIRC. He led his team on at least 2 or 3 scoring drives to send the game into overtime, where (I think Kris Brown) kicked the game-winning field goal...

I went back and read the highlights from the game, and I guess the Steelers didn't look too bad. They had the Bengals on the ropes pretty much after the first half, and they came back and stunned them. Parker ran close to 100 yards, so not too shabby. I still think they could be better. I just hope they get their act together as the season goes on. I guess this one was Cincinnati's to win, and ok, thanks for not gloating!  Smile

I still don't approve of Arians. I haven't since he replaced Whisenhunt. If, by at least the mid-point of the season, the Steelers have a mediocre record at best, Ben looks to be on pace to 40-plus sacks, Parker going nowhere, then I will emphatically call for his removal from the Steelers organization...

They'll go 3-13 this year.  Wink

Chargers pulled a nice win over the Dolphins. The offensive line was partially effective, giving Rivers a LOT of time to pull off some nice passes, but once again the run game was practically nonexistent. And the Chargers really need to get their shit together in the red zone. 1 TD in the last 2 games when inside the red zone is not a good stat.

On the bright side, the SD defense shone today, completely stuffing the Miami offense except for a late touchdown when the game was already basically over. The defense was bringing pressure, reading the QB, and making stands when it counted.

Onto Pittsburgh for a touch game against a Steelers team that will be desperate for a win. I predict the Chargers take this one, simply because sans Polomalu, Rivers will tear up the secondary. The Chargers have all the momentum going into this one.

It's hard to think that so much depends on one player, but the Steelers losing Polomalu reminds me of the Pats losing Rodney Harrison, their D immediately took a huge step backwards.

As for the Pats, their D shut down the Falcons and the O did enough to win. Joey Galloway looks lost out there and showed he won't take a hit. Lord knows how he's made it in the NFL all these years.

Quite an interesting Week 3. I am glad the Bears were able to orchestrate another come from behind victory in the 4th quarter. After the Game 1 debacle, Cutler seems to have gotten his head back in the right place esp. when it comes to maintaining his calm in the crucial last few mins of the game to keep drives alive.

I loved what the Colts did to the Cardinals yesterday. Almost felt bad for Warner, he looked his age yesterday. He just had an awful night... esp that last sack for over 28 yards. That was just pathetic.

Hate what No. 4 (Favre) was able to pull off yesterday against the 49'ers. I just cant stand that smirking knucklehead and am fervently praying for him to get his a$$ handed to him by Green Bay, hopefully next weekend.

Gotta hand it to the Jets. Before yesterdays game I was starting to get a bit annoyed by their arrogance but now I think this team is literally on fire. Just hope they keep the fire lit till Nov and Dec when it counts the most.

Actually felt good for the Lions, i think this must be a huge monkey off their backs. I think the Bears better take them seriously because a team like the Lions now are capable of playing freely and without a care in the world. (There season is already better than last years so they can basically wreck everyone else's party now).

I think Cleveland has a great shot at going 0-16 this year. I am rooting for them to do it.  Wink

Final score was 34-14; and no, it was NOT an all-Michael Vick show either (first time he QB'ed since late-2006, I believe, at a Falcons-Eagles game). Kolb played a darn good game.

Side note regarding the Eagles and Patriots:

The Eagles faced a former-Patriots QB (Cassel) and the Pats played against Vick's former team.

With regards to the Titans-Jets game (which I saw one play of it during the Eagles-Chiefs half-time report); personally, I thought it was a little weird seeing the Titans wearing their old Houston Oilers uniforms.

Take nothing from the Colts ,the D line was being very aggressive and did there job. Peyton..will always punish your mistakes and he did. The Cardinals O coordinator sucks ... If I had that offense frankly I could do a better job of play calling. They basically sat and watched there QB operate under duress all night and did nothing to change the game plan.

When the Cards picked off Manning in the second qtr, and the offensive coordinator called a run play I knew it was over. Every coach knows that to win the battle you must make the other team pay for there mistake. That play should have been a wide out streak to 11 or 15 down the field . Nothing hurts a team worse that giving up a touchdown after a turnover. The Cards were being pussies and the Colts knew it.

The best coached team won .... hats off to the Indy coaching staff.

All of that does not matter. I love him for the fact that he truly plays for the love of the game. He understand the relationship very well and is able to thus inspire anyone around him. Also cant hide the fact that he makes plays that others can only dream about. go big or go home. i would never give the ball to anyone else other than favre in such a 4th quarter situation.
