As a veteran, I find this sort of thing particularly despicable. Here's someone who didn't make the sacrifices that our military men and women make, yet he tries to gain some bit of renown by stealing some of the acclaim rightfully due to those who have served.

Here in Catalonia there was man who used to say he was imprisoned by the nazis at Matthausen. He was given all sorts of medals and decorations and it all turned out to be fake.

The funny thing is that he got to be the president of the national association of people imprisoned by the nazis in concentration camps.

The same apparently happened in Australia. The chairman of the association of ex-prisoners-of-war was discovered to have never been one.
