Since the LDSs are over, we're going to the LCSs. Here are the matchups (LDS results of each team under parenthesis):

ALCS: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (3:0) vs New York Yankees (3:0)
NLCS: Philadelphia Phillies (3:1) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (3:0)

This is a true East Coast vs. West Coast (LA) battle. I really want it to be Phillies vs Yanks in the end with the Phillies taking it all the way for the second time in a row.

GO PHILLIES!!!

Go Angels! They're really the only team left I can root for. As a Mets/Padres fan, I like neither the Phillies nor the Dodgers, so I don't really care who wins that series. However, I don't like the Yankees at all, so I'm going for Anaheim!

Either way, both series should be really fun to watch. There have been some good games already in the LDS. Postseason baseball is always exciting, even when my team isn't playing.

No times are out yet, but look for the ALCS to take the primetime spot (i.e. 8pm start in New York, 5pm start in LA) over the NL whenever possible. FOX is really devoted to the whole primetime thing.

That would be great, I'd love to see the Phillies beat the Yankees. They need to get through the Dodgers first though, we did it last year and I think we'll so it again.

That looks right, FOX's schedule on their website has it starting at 7:30pm even though MLB still says TBD. I'm guessing the Phillies will play at the same time on Thursday since they're the only game that day. I don't know whether they'll do a day game on Friday or if it will be another 10pm start. At least it won't be 30 degrees in LA.

Actually, for ratings, this would be very bad. There is no longer a national interest as it is such a localized event. The same thing happened a few years back when it was the Yankees vs Mets. Very poor ratings even though it was played in such a huge metro area.
I would love to see the Yanks and Dodgers for the Yankees to spank Joe Torre!!!!

Partially true. The ratings in New York were off the chart and some of the highest ever for that region. But outside of New York, the ratings were pretty bad.

I have tickets to Game 5 of the NLCS if there is one. Because I can't make any games til next Friday. If there is a Game 5 I have a better chance of witnessing one of the teams win the pennant in front of my eyes.

ALCS gets underway in just over a half hour. It's damn cold here in NYC, but it hasn't rained all day, and hopefully the water will stay away.

This is going to be a tough one. The Angels play anyone tough, but they seem to go the extra mile to make life miserable for the Yankees. They have deeper starting pitching than the Yankees do, and a scrappy lineup, but there are lots of questions in the bullpen, and the Yankees have the bats and a bullpen that has been very good all year. A-Rod hits well against the Angels historically, and if he keeps that up the Yankees will be tough to beat. The Yankees showed during the regular season that they can beat the Angels at their own game with the speed of Gardner, and Freddy Guzman has been added to the roster and is lightning quick as well. And they just don't stop coming - Minnesota had a lead in all three games in the ALDS, but none of them lasted longer than two innings. The Yankees have been that way all year, and that combined with an iffy Anaheim bullpen is why I give this series to the Yankees in 6.

For the NLCS, I hope LA pulls it out, and I think they will, but in 7. Unless they can beat Cliff Lee in Game 3, in which case it could be over sooner than that.

What a game 2 for the Yankees and Angels. Angels tied it in the top of the 11th, only to have A-Rod, for whom October has taken on a whole new meaning, hit his third game-tying home run in five postseason games. And then the Yankees won it in 13 on a throwing error by the Angels, their second walk-off win in this postseason.

The Angels played hard, played very tough, and deserve a lot of credit for hanging in there and stranding a lot of Yankee runners on base. But there is something special about this Yankees team, and it showed again tonight.

I still think the Angels will take a game or two at home. But it would not surprise me at all if the Yankees swept the series on extremely close games.

Fantastic night.  cloudnine

It was a very exciting game. The pitching was excellent on both sides. I don't think I've watched a game go that long that didn't feel dragged on. I would like to see it a Dodgers Angels world series, but honestly I just really care about the Dodgers winning. I won't be too upset if the Angels don't pull it off, but it would be cool. It'd also be cool to see the Yankees play the Dodgers if it came to that. Either way, the Yankees seem to be very well matched with the Angels.

Game of missed opportunity on both sides. For the Angels,Vladimir Guerrero could have put the game away a couple of times. Great game just the same and.Im a little bummed we came out on the short end although the Angels we're toe to toe all the way..Game 3 and 4 is a must for us.

Well the Angels one game 3, so at least they're in the series now. It was a nice win, and I thought it would be a repeat of last night because both teams are so well matched. I guess it was a repeat in a sense, since both games were won by two mistakes in the defense. Anyways, Dodgers are playing now with Phillies leading by 2, so hopefully we'll see how the game goes.

What compelled Girardi to pull out Robertson for Aceves is beyond me. Robertson had only pitched 2/3 of an inning, showed absolutely no sign of trouble, and is, at this point, a more trustworthy pitcher than Aceves is. Why lose in extras with anything less than your best on the mound? I know it's only 2-1, but you can't give away games in the postseason - the opposition is just too good.

Girardi has used the bullpen horribly so far in this postseason, and up until tonight had gotten away with it. This one's on him.  thumbsdown

My same thoughts - Girardi had been getting lucky with being cute with the bullpen instead of just letting pitchers do just that.

It's especially galling since we had Tex and A-Rod coming up the next inning, and if Robertson had gotten out of the inning (which he was well on his way to doing) we would have had a damn good shot at taking the lead.

If the Angels win off of Robertson, then you tip your hat and came back the next day. But to lose with your second-best guy on the mound....  gnasher
