I know a lot of people say that the Nobel Peace Prize isn't worth anything nowadays, but this to me just shows how Iran plans to approach anyone who does not agree with their agenda. This woman was for change in Iran and they basically exiled her and sent her hundreds if not thousands of threatening letters because of her democratic stance.

Sheer pettiness and a sign of desperation; one can only wonder what whoever came up with this idea must have been thinking - or expecting it to achieve.

The Iranian authorities have also beaten up her husband, taken away and pension benefits from him, the govenment broke into a bank safe deposit box to seize the medal itself, seized her bank deposits which mainly include her prize money for 'not paying taxes' although under Iran law it is not. The Norweigen Government has protested to the diplomatic authorities of Iran of this totally unacceptable beheavior. But for public shame, as has been futile for other prize winners to protest the actions by their governments against them, there may be little that can be done to put pressure on Iran's government to make things right.

I think the Iranian gov't has a rude awakening coming to them in the next few years. These students in Iran as much their gov't tries to suppress the cries for freedom, they need to take to the streets and make their voices heard, I hope they know that as a fellow student in America I support them 150%. What kind of country do you live in when your own gov't bans use of the internet so you can't publish videos to the rest of the world? With all these sanctions against Iran and their ridiculous actions against their own people, how long is it before we see another revolution there?

The pot is bubbling, be in no doubt about that and when people are under severe pressure, as the Iranian authorities are, they make foolish mistakes and this in itself adds to the pressure for change. This desperate, petty move will only add to that pressure.

I can see significant changes for Iran within the next 12-18 months, although the battle for change will be very bloody; this will not be a quiet/velvet revolution.

I can't help but think, that if the Iranian Govt would allow their citizens the freedoms that they want, the Govt wouldn't need to be worried. They might even stay in power.

Am I wrong here?

The trouble with student revolutions.. and the 1979 revolution in Iran whilst religiously motivated was largely a student revolution.. is they generally don't get what they thought they were after.

They swapped the oppression of the Shah's regime for a different oppression.. worse/better . can't answer that. So if they manage to overthrow the Ayatollahs what will they have then?

I think it's obvious that they are tired of religious dictators.

No matter how random things may appear, there's always a plan.
