I'm flying to BKI on may 6th, going back on the 23th. From there I'd love to add some flights to visit different countries, of course I know I won't be able to see everything but a lot of places come to mind and I need some help to make the best selection (depending on the weather at that time of the year, things to do, etc...).
So far I'm thinking of :

That sounds like a LOT of destinations for a short trip, and keep in mind that airfares within Asia can be quite expensive.
With your time constraints, I would probably head up through Thailand, over through Cambodia, and then through Vietnam, perhaps ending the trip in HKG (you would need to fly to HKG). I suggest this itinerary given that the land-based transport (with occasional flights) will be easier and eat up less time, and you'll really get to experience the places rather than just jetting in and out.
Hong Kong generally gets better reviews than Singapore, although if you're in Malaysia then Singapore may be easier to squeeze in. Seoul is nice, but I'm not sure it's worth going that far out of your way for, and is down the list of sightseeing destinations that you list. I would also skip Bali, which is basically a generic beach resort that could be anywhere in the world (e.g. not much Indonesian character - think Cancun moved to Asia). The beaches in Thailand (near Phuket) or Vietnam (Hoi An, Nha Trang) are better than Bali.

This idea sounds really great ! In fact there's no particular order in my list... I agree with you that it's far better to spend more time in one country to experience it, and as I said above I know I won't be able to see everything (another reason to come again in the future ).
I'm planning on adding some flights with Air Asia, they usually offer pretty good deals on various destinations. I just had a look at their website but it seems that I'll have to wait till next month for deals available in may...
Thanks again for your reply

Quoting Airtrainer (Thread starter): Mount Kinabalu
I love Asia, and have been to most of these places, so let me give you my input:
BRUNEI - meh, it's ok. I would chop this one off first of all though. If you are in K.K., you are close, which helps, but it's still kind of boring. The people are extremely nice though, and it's pretty neat to say you have been there, but...meh.
SINGAPORE - big city, good food, not much else. I prefer Hong Kong over Singapore personally. If you're keep on that immediate area, I actually like Kuala Lumpur over Singapore.
THAILAND - big country...what are you looking at exactly? Bangkok is nice and a lot of fun if you party. Beaches around Phuket a beautiful but overcrowded (I prefer just south across the border in Malaysia, specifically Langkawi)
SOUTH KOREA - awesome place, I love it. Seoul is huge but friendly, the countryside gorgeous and peaceful. People are great, and if you like spicy food like me, Korea is a mecca. As RwSEA said, it's a bit (a lot) out of your way.
HONG KONG - one of my favorite cities in the world, I get there every few months (including this weekend). Huge city but it also has some very, very peaceful and laid back areas, great food, is relatively cheap, and has friendly people and efficient transit.
TAIWAN - beautiful water and mountains. Taipei is large but friendly (as is the whole country, in general). I have only been once but routinely fly over it on my frequent NRT-HKG-NRT flights and marvel at its beauty from the air.
SO, we know you are going to Kota. You really, in my mind, have two reasonable trips to choose from, lest you exhaust yourself:
Hong Kong/Taiwan/South Korea, OR
I personally prefer the former, but both sound like great trips.

Both sound like great trips indeed, I've been to Singapore and Bangkok before but only for short times and would love to experience these cities again. I'll have to work on schedules and airfares to make the best combinations, but the choice is hard !
