Listening to AM940 Hawaii live streaming online, I gather that there will be 40 to 50 ft. high waves on Oahu's North Shore today.

I am sorry to have to miss out on this. I love these big waves, at Turtle Bay, Waimea Bay or any other of the most famous North Shore surfing spots. The noise from these huge waves is truly incredible and the waves are truly spectacular.

Never seen them at 50 ft. though. Only 20 to 30 ft which is already impressive. I can't imagine what today's waves re going to be like. They will be huge!

Only the best among the best surfers will be able to go out with such gigantic waves. I bet some competitions will take place.

I looked for a site with Oahu North Shore webcams. This site has several and they are all good quality. Looking at the live cams I can see that the waves are already huge and it is only 7.30 in the morning out there on the other side of the world.

This is the link to the live surf cams:

Any A.netters out there on Oahu's North Shore please go out for pictures and post them on this thread.

Thank you very much in advance!

...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST WEDNESDAY...
SURF 30 TO 40 FEET HIGH WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR ALONG NORTH-FACING
SHORES THROUGH WEDNESDAY...WITH SOME SETS APPROACHING 50 FEET ON
THE OUTER REEFS. SURF ALONG WEST-FACING SHORES WILL REACH 30
FEET. THE HIGH SURF...COMBINED WITH A TWO-FOOT HIGH TIDE THIS
MORNING...WILL INCREASE THE CHANCE OF WAVES WASHING ONTO ROADS AND
PROPERTY ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A HIGH SURF WARNING MEANS THAT DANGEROUS...BATTERING WAVES WILL
POUND THE SHORELINE...PRODUCING VERY DANGEROUS SWIMMING
CONDITIONS AND DEADLY RIP CURRENTS.
PEOPLE GOING NEAR THE BEACH TO WATCH THE HIGH SURF ARE ADVISED TO
REMAIN FAR AWAY FROM THE WATER. WAVES CAN SUDDENLY WASH UP ONTO
PREVIOUSLY DRY AREAS. FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS FROM WATER SAFETY
OFFICIALS AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICIALS.

U.S. News
Hawaii sees highest surf in decades

Surf lovers jammed Oahu's Kamehameha Highway and packed every inch of the North Shore beach Monday as waves as high as 40 feet pounded the shore, while massive, 50-foot waves were predicted for Tuesday, Hawaii Magazine reported.

Impressive pictures of the monster waves.
Surfers went out. They did not have the competition since 2004.

More high waves expected today but maybe not 50ft high

My aunt lives right on the North Shore, just down the road from Dillingham Airfield. She's close enough that if she were to leave her sliding door open, she could get water into her house (which has happened before). I'll see if my cousin can take some pics of the waves and I'll try to post them on here.

My daughter and I were lucky enough to get to Hawaii last time they held the Eddie Aikau surf contest at Waimea Bay in 2004. The surf was up so high that it was washing over the road in the early morning hours. Here's a few pictures of something neither of us will ever forget.

First picture is me on the Kamehameha Highway to Waimea Bay.

Second shows where the surf was washing across the highway.

Traffic on the highway was unbelievable.

Starting at the bluffs on the south end of Waimea Bay the photographers were out and about.

The noise of the waves even from a distance was impressive, then you finally hit the bluff and get a look at what these guys are surfing in. I'm a strong swimmer, and I got blasted by some 15-20 foot surf at Waimea Bay in 2002, but no way I'd go out in that stuff. I have a lot of respect for these surfers.

Big crowds lined the beach for its entire length.

We both consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to witness the Eddie Aikau surfing contest especially since it doesn't happen every year. I've cropped her picture since she is still a minor.

My daughter is also a budding photographer, she was only 11 at the time but managed to take several really good shots. This was from early that morning when we hiked to the top of the Diamondhead crater.

Thank you for sharing your story and pictures.

I have seen some pretty big waves and surfing competitions on Oahu's North Shore all the way up to Turtle Bay and further but yeserday's XXLs must have been quite spectacular.

Today's waves will never be as high. This is the forecast from the live cam's site.

Just to get an idea where my Aunt lives on the north shore......The marker is almost exactly on her house.........she's just a few feet from the shoreline.
