It turns out the 8 civilians who died in Afghanistan earlier today were all CIA agents. Just a tragic loss of life for an integral part of our war on terror. May they all Rest in Peace.

Does anyone see the a possible strike back by the U.S.?

You mean the war OF terror?

I wonder how much tragic loss of life these people were responsible for.

Throw bombs at others, others will throw bombs at you.

btw, article says:"A U.S. congressional official said CIA employees are believed to be among the victims. "

They were spies on the territory of another country - not exactly civilians.

Not all members of CIA's clandestine service are necessarily 'spies' - there's a lot of job descriptions and a lot of work involved. At the end of the day, they were there, putting themselves at risk, obtaining information toward a more secure USA. We're not talking about a shadow band of operatives removing a democratically-elected leader here.

It's true. That said, they can hardly be called "civilians," either. In my opinion, no American "civilian" belongs in Afghanistan barring such organizations as Doctors Without Borders/Red Cross.

Well they have been there for decades. The CIA and a few hundred special forces were responsible for taking down Afghanistan in 2001.

The way I see it, the CIA is an integral part of the war on terror. They can be invaluable when it comes to both gathering intelligence and snatching or disposing of terrorists in places where the locals won't cooperate.
