Ncaa Bowls: Bucks Over Ducks; Bowden Out A Winner

Ah, take that Ohio State haters, the Buckeyes squashed the Oregon Ducks in the Rose Bowl, 26-17. I've been wr oking, so I didn't get to watch most of the 2nd half, and will watch it at home on DVR later, but sounds like the OSU offense just dominated the Ducks D, and kept Oregon off the field.

WAY TO GO BUCKEYES!

Bobby Bowden went out a winner when Florida State beat WVU (like anything else was going to happen in that one). The SEC and Big 10 split today, as Penn State beat LSU and Aurubn beat Northwestern in what was apparently a wild game.

Your takes on the bowls.

Oh: go Bearcats, beat the Gators.

What the hell was that in the Outback Bowl? Five interceptions, all resulting in five touchdowns? And then Kafka with 78 (!!!) pass attempts (and 47 completions)? I still can't believe it, even after seeing the highlights of the game.

I did particularly like the final minutes of the Humanitarian Bowl. I've never seen a finish as dramatic as that last second touchdown and two-point conversion by Idaho neither in College Football, nor in the NFL.

And now, let's hope that this Thursday, Alabama will kick some Longhorns ass, and will send Colt McCoy back home crying like a baby.  stirthepot

Outback Bowl, second half + OT, takes my vote as one of the best games to watch in a very, very long time. After the first half, I just about turned it off...instead, I forced myself to stay awake on my couch, and I was rewarded.

Glad the Buckeyes won, but I fell asleep during that one, so I missed a bunch of it.

I too hope Alabama beats Texas...I hate those full-of-themselves Longhorn fans.

The Bowl games are a joke. DI or FBS, what ever they call themselves, needs a 16 team playoff. Just like Div, 1-AA, 2 and 3. If you are 6-6, 7-5, even 8-4, why are you going to a Bowl? Not everyone gets a trophy.

Good win for Coach Tressel and his Buckeyes. Not an OSU fan and was hoping the Pac-10 would represent well, but obviously Ohio State came prepared.

The Bearcats simply look outmatched in every category so far, but there's still a full half to go. That said, Tebow appears to be on a mission to pass for over 500 yds this game. Gators should win easily.

And....HOOK 'EM HORNS! Beat Bama.

I wasn't, since I'm a Bowling Green Alum.  Sad

Bobby Bowden

Even though I am a Miami Hurricanes fan and HATE FSU I am glad he went out a winner. A great coach.

He could be a decent backup. If he ever wants to be a stud NFL player, he best start learning how to play RB.

Go Ducks.  Sad

I don't think I've ever seen a more torn up field than the one that this game was played on. A lot of people complained about it, but hey, I like watching a down-and-dirty football game.

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

I was at that stadium in Orlando for the Champs Sports Bowl UM vs Wisconsin even in dry conditions the field looked bad. The Stadium is run down a bit and I think is only used for two bowls games a year. They need to fix the place up

Sigh, It was a terrible day to be a mountaineer that day, 2 losses of big games (other being basketball vs Purdue). I finally just got back home from the bowl game. Just crummy playing. Don't know what else to say.

Seems Cinci is just having a hard time winning the bowl games they play in the last couple years. For Big East camps, they sure don't play like it.

Should be a god match-up, but really doesn't mean anything else for me. Maybe whoever wins will be put into a new conference.

I've been really impressed with TCU, by the by. They are a wonderful team, and they've given us a great game. This is definitely a tense nailbiting game for us. May the best team win!

Neither team played that well on offense. I'm not sure if that was due to them having an off night, or just great defense. Not the cleanest game but still quite good, with a great atmosphere. In the end it seemed like Boise St. just had a bit more passion. Whether it was because of their desire for revenge or their search for respect, the Broncos brought a little more energy tonight and deserved the win.

Agreed, BSU disappointed me with their offense, and I almost get the feeling we lucked out in the sense that TCU also seemed to have a off game with their offense. As I said, TCU has an excellent team, and they deserve a lot of recognition. I think for the both of us it was a bit of an off game as we've played much better earlier in the season. Still, it was a great game to watch, and I'm happy we were able to face a team that played with gusto and spirit

GOOO BRONCOS!  I am a happy man tonight.
