Well since it's the first day of the new month, here's the new month's self-picture thread (I'm kind of surprised someone in a time zone east of the US didn't beat someone over here to the punch haha).
Anyway, to get things rolling, my pictures are from the Detroit Auto Show a couple weeks ago. It was my first one and I thought it was pretty neat but my girlfriend said it was disappointing compared to previous years (I guess with all the cutbacks currently plaguing the auto-industry)
Sitting in one of the Mustangs on display. My only complaint is that it's a Ford Mustang and not a North American P-51 Mustang.
My girlfriend and I down by the fountain located at the "Eco Test Drive" section of the Auto-Show where you could test drive all sorts of new electric vehicles. You can tell the height difference between us - I'm sitting down - she's standing up.

Not a recent one - taken at Xmas but it's the most recent I have. Also, this is the nicest I've ever dressed so I'm milking it I had slackened off my tie at this point, and yes, for some reason my hair makes my head look strange.
Blanked out face because I know for a fact he'd probably kill me if he found out his face was plastered on the internet.

She is correct.
I've seen the decline over the years too but I don't go every year. A good friend of mine has been going every year since 1978. He's certainly seen it go downhill over the years. Despite the lack of styling in recent years, the whole experience has been cheapened. The auto show used to be a swanky and very classy experience.
There used to be live music, cocktails, fancy displays and absolutely gorgeous women in gowns at the displays.
Today it's almost like going in to a WalMart with people getting in your face with advertisements and coupons that have nothing to do with automobiles. Some manufactures aren't even handing out brochures at these auto shows.
I hear that the Tokyo auto show is the one to go to and they still have maintained a sense of class at their auto show.

This is after an hour and a half waiting for a bus and airstairs... and I loved every second of it! N766NC DC-9-51 built in 1977 originally for North Central Airlines operated NW7148 DTW-JFK on 21 Dec. Many thanks to Captain Alex, First Officer Joe and the rest of the cabin crew!

You look like you either:
A) just found out you were flying United
B) you had money on Brett Favre and the Vikings beat the Saints and just watched Brett throw the interception or
C) you were watching the State of the Union address. Open those eyes a little wider and you could rival Nancy Pelosi.

Do they have a lot of US auto-makers at the Tokyo Auto-Show? My girlfriend's dad works for GM so she's all about GM cars (and the Ford Mustang). You'd love hanging out with her 'Fly - she's as much of a car nut as I am a plane geek.

About the only company with female models along side the cars was Ferrari. And I got scolded by the girlfriend when I took a picture of the car with the model in it.

Then DO NOT take her with you to the Tokyo Auto Show.
I certainly seem to think so. She loves sports as much as I do too. We just have to work on her teams. She's a Notre Dame fan. Boooo!!!!
Quoting Superfly (Reply 20): Thanks. Do you trust us alone?
LOL!
Just kidding
I thought about that after I posted it too.
Quoting Superfly (Reply 20): Then DO NOT take her with you to the Tokyo Auto Show.
I could just not tell her about that aspect and play "dumb".
But I told her now that she's taken me to the Detroit Auto Show, I get to take her to Oshkosh.

The Philly Auto Show (which is in town this week) certainly did NOT have one of those test drive stations.
Quoting FlyDeltaJets87 (Thread starter): Sitting in one of the Mustangs on display. My only complaint is that it's a Ford Mustang and not a North American P-51 Mustang
At the Philly Auto Show the only 2011 Mustang on display was the 5.0 model (in yellow) that was NOT available for seating. The Philly show had 2 or 3 2010 Mustangs (except the Shelby model) that one could sit in.
If it's any consulation, Ford named its pony car the Mustang after the P-51 Mustang plane.

Sounds a little like the pricier Black Tie Gala that the Philly Auto Show does the Friday night before the show opens to the general public.
