Some of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Good place to chill.

Are you there on Sunday, if so the afternoon/evening at Shirley heights is worth a visit.
Steel band, reggae band, barbeque and wonderful sunset. All the hotels offer excursions to it.

The best beaches, from what the people on St. Kitts told me.

Here's a good website to help you figure out what to do: http://www.definitivecaribbean.com/guide/antigua.aspx

My recommendation: find a dinky little beach bar and grill. Sit around beach and beach bar all day. Enjoy the beach and drink.

Hmm, beautiful beaches, really nice people, REALLY rude people. A clustergem of an airport -- do not connect there, EVER. Absolutely not concept of punctuality...anywhere! Good food.

I lived there from Feb 1979 to Oct 1982 - and loved it. Wish I was going back.

I'm sure it has changed quite a bit but I found it interesting every day. Being there on 1 Nov 81 when they received their independence was an amazing day. The birth of a new nation.

The beaches are unbelievable. The water is so clear, and I've lived on Guam, the Philippines and been to Truk. Antigua has them beat.

I went there 30 over years ago, and it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to.

Enjoy!

REALLY rude people.

Wouldn't call them rude, at least not all of them. The only rude person I encountered was a German expat running a kayak tour place. The tour, however, was nice. Another thing that may be a bit annoying is how the locals insist on tips.

I have not enough experience with the beaches in the area, however the ones I saw vere nice. And the warm air and ocean in early February felt very good.

Or take some of the daytrips offered by the locals. It doesn't cost too much, some activities (as snorkeling), food and (IIRC) unlimited drinks are included.

I was there a while ago before the cruise ships started coming in. Antigua is not a 'scene' type island, and is relatively low keyed. It's a great place for "'Chillaxin'' (to use a horrible word).

Have fun!
