I've done it before and think it's pretty fun to do. It's quite difficult up here in the mountains because GPS signals come and go pretty easily.

Done it but not as much as I would like. I've hosted more caches than I've done geocaching. I've only ever found two.

A GPS with WAAS is a must for geocaching.

Not in a while, but I used to do it all the time, and I have a cache of my own. It's a lot of fun to do. They're everywhere, including a microcache at the Roman Colliseum. I found it when I was there and when I pulled it out of the wall a man walked up and said, "Excuse me, I see you found something in that wall, there?" At first we were nervous but then we saw he had a GPS. It was a German tourist who was doing some geocaching while on vacation. So we handed him the cache and went on our way. I doubt this will happen to you, but it's a funny story nonetheless.

There are a lot of items in the hills/mountains around LA, and I've participated a few times. It's a good time.

I don't yet have a GPS unit, but I have done with my brother and his kids. It was fun. I have tried looking around here, but, without GPS, it is near impossible!

Been doing it for about 7-8 years now. We're not the ultra-serious type of cachers that have found thousands, but we typically use it as a way to go off the beaten path when we're out of town. We try to get the trailer out and go camping once/month, so we'll look at what caches are within 10-15 miles of the campground and try to hit 5-10 of them while we're there. There are good ones and bad ones out there, but you can typically tell that by reading the descriptions.

I only heard of this about a week ago via another forum I am a member of.

I discovered there is a cache less than 300 metres from my home, and over a hundred within 10 kilometres.

I haven't been out looking yet though.
