Oh lookie! ANOTHER Philadelphia TSA massive cock-up!

Quote:
4-year-old Ryan Thomas is developmentally disabled as a result of being 16 weeks premature and has to wear corrective braces. His ankles are malformed and his legs have little or no muscle tone. He only just learned how to walk, briefly, on his own, according to thePhiladelphia Inquirer.

But that didn’t seem to matter to the Transportation Security Administration screeners at Philadelphia International airport....

Really now, when is enough, enough with this worthless, zealot, TSA attitude that is running rampant in Philadelphia? As I posted on the other thread the TSA has not ever, caught someone who was convicted of being a terrorist or would be terrorist. NOT ONE! Why does America allow this ridiculous charade to continue? And yet many of the posters here on a.net think full body naked screening is great and needs to be done ASAP at airports? Why would you subject yourself to this?

Edited to fix broken link.

Agreed. Let's just hope this child doesn't remember the humiliation he was subjected to.

I would have been mortified if I was standing behind this family and would have stepped in and told them to demand the airport manager show up personally to deal with this. This is the 3rd or 4th instance of an outrageous offense (just that we know about) which has happened in Philly.

We had the girl asked about the drugs by a TSA agent that was kidding while dangling a baggie full of white powder from his own pocket. Then the guy hauled into questioning for 5 hours for being white while flying with beard over his beard. And now this. All of this in the past 12 to 14 months! What else has transpired?

This may be kind of off-topic but this reminded me of something. I have a now 11 year old sister who has tuberous sclerosis. She can't walk or talk, and is always in a wheelchair. About 3 years ago, we got to the scanners at DFW, and they got "suspicious" of her. We had to take her out of a wheelchair, and they did a full body scan, but took a long time doing it, nearly causing us to miss our flight. It isnt nearly as bad as the poor kid in the article, but it was pretty bad.

Quoting CBSNews (Reply website):
Meanwhile Bob Thomas was getting increasingly agitated. He is an officer in Camden's emergency crime suppression team, so he understood the need for security, but this was overkill, he told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Thomases eventually complied and Ryan made it through on his own, but Bob immediately asked for a supervisor. The supervisor was less than sympathetic and stood by the screener's actions. A fellow police officer even told Bob Thomas to drop it and go enjoy his vacation.

You have got to be kidding me. That "fellow police officer" should be riding a desk for this by now. How pathentic. The "fellow police officer" was Mr. Thomas' comrade. What the *bleep*!?

The TSA has gone way too far now. Disband and begone!

And another security breach in EWR---wasn't sure if I saw this in the Av forum.

Either way, this 4 year old incident is just beyond enraging.

From your link:

Quote:
The problem is it was the second security breach at the airport in six weeks. On Jan. 3 a security breach caused the airport to shut down Terminal C for six hours, stranding 16,000 passengers for days and entangling flights around the world.

This comes as the airport scored dead last in a national survey of airport customer satisfaction. One big trouble spot is poor security checks.

I don't understand why someone can't tell the American people that there's not much that can be done to give 100% security, all the time, under every scenario. Did America demand that all cars become bullet proof after the Washington DC sniper attacks killing people? No. This stupid, over-reaching TSA needs to be stripped of its duties.

Even if it isn't disbanded then it needs to be refocused solely on making sure banned substances like guns, bombs, knives, and the like are not getting thru, and that's it. It's a huge waste of productivity for all involved having them check prescription bottles of medicines with that passengers name to make sure the medicines are his/hers. WTF? Who died and made a $12 an hour TSA moron a pharmacist, doctor, ordinance expert, and terrorism fighter?

So, Tea Party people, you want to talk about Constitutional? Why don't I hear this from you?

Why? Easy really. They want everyone except themselves to be scanned, probed, groped, profiled, and questioned. I mean terrorists are really easy to spot, just like spotting a red commie Soviet is below:

But it's not about security necessarily.

It's about basic COMPETENCE, of which the TSA has little.

Isn't there a way a Federal Referendum can be made to decide whether the people want the TSA disbanded or its powers reduced, at least for next year's November elections? I understand that many would vote in favour of the TSA just for the sake of safety, but it's still worth a try, at least if the necessary number of signatures can be collected for it.
