Fortunatly, we don't get the American version in Canada ... unfortunatly, the European version (orange is my favourite) costs about $1 for a can if they have some in the import stores.
Yup ... followed by Mug (haven't seen Fanta or Hires Root Beer for years, but those were good) ... Barq's doesn't even taste like Root Beer to me. Root Beer is supposed to be sweet and creamy.
The absloute worst is Mezzo Mix or Spezi which is Coke mixed with Orange Fanta .... blech!

I fell in love with European Orange Fanta when I went to Europe (thank God for Club Kitchen) but for some reason I persist in drinking the American version, which isn't bad, but the Euro version is so much better. It tastes more like orange, and not just orange flavored.
Second best cream soda I've had. The best is the local Fitz's brand in St. Louis. That is great stuff, and their root beer is awesome too.
And my favorite around home is chocolate Coke. My hometown has an old style soda shop with different flavorings and chocolate is the best. Everyone else seems to hate it and as far as I know I am the only person in town who gets it, but it is pretty darn good.

That doesnt count, you can get the Euro version here too. In fact I am sipping on a 2 Liter of Lemonic Fanta imported from Poland right now (along with a beer of course). Costs about $3,29 at my local supermarket.
One of the first things I do whenever I visit Greece is purchase a bottle of Fanta Orange and and a bottle of Fanta Lemonade. IMHO, European fanta is the best soft drink on the market. In Greece they make have an additional flavor that was quite good, but I can't recall what it was. Maybe tangerine.

The Fanta flavors vary, im pretty sure theres more than 50 of them...I see in Poland all the time Grapefruit and Blackcurrant Fanta which is delicious.
That being said, I hate the fact that no one knows black currants in the US and is banned from growing in most states.

Our Euro Fanta usually comes from Poland, sometimes Holland .... not at supermarkets though, only at European deli's and import stores.

Red Currant juice isnt as good though, we have this Lithuanian stuff I believe"Ribez rdeci" or some other variation marketed by Caprio and its only decent.
I also cannot stand American Apple Juice, I dont know what it is about it but its just terrible, bad enough that I buy imported for 2-3x the price especially when I mix with Bison Grass Vodka.
Another thing I dont really see is Gooseberries.

Nothing strange. Just crisp, guilt-free (has been a diet drink only for decades) refreshment. Also, the only soda I know of that was dispensed in the Oval Office.
That said, the Peach and Black Cherry ones are sacrilegious (and not that tasty). Its all about the original.
Inside joke? I love Orangina. Its best drunk in Paris, followed by the first place I ever had one which is in the Boston Common, while eating an Au Bon Pain croissant and feeding another croissant to the pigeons.

Those are not the same thing. Coke Light tastes completely different from Diet Coke. And no, no beverage tastes better than Diet Coke. Especially with a pizza.

Mountain Dew is a favourite of mine - unfortunately it's not sold ANYWHERE in the UK, at least not close to me because I'd spot that green can a mile away. I love it. I've had it in Denmark, it's sold in train stations. I bought 6 cans in Buddinge Train Station (For the locals) at something like 10DKK each because I can't get it anywhere else. The cashier did look at me rather strangely
Diet Coke No Caffeine is another - I can't drink the full fat version because it leaves me bouncing off the walls for hours. I've missed entire nights of sleep because I've had 1 can 8 hours before I got into bed. I don't drink a lot of caffeine so it has a very profound effect on me. It does taste more bitter, definitely but it's a small price to pay.
As for the fanta thing we have in this thread - I can agree. America, your fanta sucks. Import ours instead

I am drinking it at the moment, it is my favorite soda and fortunately available here in Germany since beginning of this month. I just bought the last two bottles at my local gas station, I will drink them now while watching Bundesliga.

It is available in Germany. The regular version has a different taste than the regular US version. The Code Red version however is tasting exactly like in the USA. In Spain is the regular version also available but it is tasting like in Germany.
I am also a fan of Big Red and Big Red Vanilla Float:

Anything made with real sugar. None of this corn syrup crap that American companies use for their US products. Real sugar stuff actually tastes noticeably better than corn syrup--my folks--both born and bred Americans--can't stand the taste of Pepsi or Coke, but they love the stuff when its made with real sugar.
My problem with Mountain Dew is that it reminds me of college. Rather than drink coffee or become addicted to red bull and god knows what else energy drinks, I used Mountain Dew to help keep me up. I affectionately referred to it as my rocket fuel, but the only problem with that is that now I think it tastes like rocket fuel.
I've gone cold turkey off of it since college, but will probably be IV'ing the stuff when I start law school in the fall. Am not looking forward to it, but I figure I might as well stick with what works.
