I might have to make a special effort to go, in times gone by I would have taken a tent but nowwith a real job I may be able to afford a solid roof. Not too many drinkies though as I'll be driving there. What time does MAN generally get going on a sat mornings?

Just moved pawsleykat to the maybe list as he's now working as Cabin Crew for U2 and does not yet know his roster for July... hopefully he won't be too upset that I took the liberty of doing it

I'm still planning to definitely be there, depending on cash - it's going to be a tight year for me!

Quoting HT (Reply 1):
MAN - DUB on EI
DUB - BLK on RE (flying for EI)
BLK - IOM on NM
IOM - MAN on BE
departing 1055h, returning 1930h

EI cancelled the 1055h departure from MAN to DUB and rebooked me on the late-evening flight still on the same day.
That way my first leg on the EI-reservation (MAN-DUB) departs hours later than my second leg arrives at BLK ...
I will need to talk to EI about this.

Alternative would be a 0800h departure out of MAN on Sunday morning (I hardly fancy this) or to restrict the EI-reservation to DUB-BLK only combined with a new reservation on FR MAN-DUB mid-morning (I do not fancy this one either).

Third alternative is to get rid of the EI-reservation completely and take the train from MAN to Blackpool, then on to BLK.

roughly 80 GBP / 90 EUR with pre-payment and w/o breakfast.
More flexible rates are available for 2 nights at 95 GBP each or 105 GBP for a single night.

Bewleys Hotel is more economical at 64 EUR w/o breakfast.

I am going to be less coy than Rowson.

We're both off to SXM for 12 days! Please think of us on Maho beach missing out on all the fun of Manchester.

I fully recommend the First Keolis Transpennine Express service from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North which would be operated by a Class 185 Siemens Desiro unit that was built in your homeland of Germany in the town of Krefeld just outside of Dusseldorf. With three Cummins QSK19 engines delivering a total of 2250bhp through Voith Hydraulic T312BRE tranmissions that power two axels per carriage, you can be sure to arrive at your destination on time in either one of the 154 Standard Class or 15 First Class seats.

Below we see LHRjc enjoying First Class onboard 185108 last year.

If the weather is good on that Sunday and I get up on time, I likely will take that very train and have a stroll in Blackpool prior to heading to BLK.
Backup plan is to use Transpennine Express to Preston and change for Northern Rail to SQU (Squires Gate) in order to head directly to the airport.

I still need to get into contact with EI (will do that in Monday from office) and hear what they have in mind regarding my (spoilt) reservation.
