Apples IPHONE 4 appears to have been accidentally left in a bar...It was disguised as a 3gs. Sort of like the auto industry. They had a plastic case around it.
Clipped from the article middle where they discuss why they think it is real.
Why we think it's definitely real
We're as skeptical—if not more—than all of you. We get false tips all the time. But after playing with it for about a week—the overall quality feels exactly like a finished final Apple phone—and disassembling this unit, there is so much evidence stacked in its favor, that there's very little possibility that it's a fake. In fact, the possibility is almost none. Imagine someone having to use Apple components to design a functioning phone, from scratch, and then disseminating it to people around the world. Pretty much impossible. Here are the reasons, one by one.
It has been reported lost
Apple-connected John Gruber—from Daring Fireball—says that Apple has indeed lost a prototype iPhone and they want it back:
I would so hate to be this guy who lost it..Especially with Apples Penchant for secrecy. I know an engineer with RIM anf he lives in fear leaving one of the Next gen Blackberry's somewhere.

Sometimes all you can do is look them in the eye and ask " how much did your mom drink when she was pregnant with you?"

Apple is not known for "controlled leaks". Everyone who's been around Apple employees in the Bay Area knows how spooked they are on company secrecy. My bet is that this was actually the work of a clever crook - corporate espionage if you like.
In any case, if the employee involved is outed, they will be finished at Apple, no questions asked.
If you need someone to blame / throw a rock in the air / you'll hit someone guilty

Apple devoloped the iPad without a single person ,outside apple, seeing it up until the day before it was released.
Which is what leads me to believe, no matter what we're told or "leaked," it's all just a bunch of BS. I doubt this holds any real legitimacy whatsoever.

Wouldn't that make a controlled leak appear even more legitimate?

I am by no means an Apple advocate. Like their products, but in good measure. But I do believe that it will work out for them just perfectly. A lot of companies are switching over to other alternatives, not just Apple.

Sure. But why not give people the option of what is now commonplace until another alternative becomes standard? Take Android. Flash will be rolling out in the 2nd half of this year. And there are already whispers of HTML 5 as well.
Doors open, right hand side, next stop is Springfield.
Спасибо Болшой но это не хорошо. Its great that multitasking is there but as to it supporting flash even though other alternatives are coming out many websites still use flash.

Quoting Aeroflot001 (Reply 11): If this truly is the New iPhone I would say its quite nice! Glad to see it has the cam on the front. Hopefully it now supports flash and multitasking.
Really, no offense, but, did you not read or hear about the new features of the OS last week?
That's the single, overriding issue why Apple has decided not to implement Flash.
Yup. Try as Klaus might, it has nothing to do with Flash not being a good program.
Quoting racko (Reply 22): 960 × 640 seems overkill for a display that size though
Yeah, seriously. I have no idea why they need a display that fine. And for what it's worth, I don't want to suffer the footprint of a video on this higher resolution screen when half that resolution was just fine.

27 Aeroflot001: None taken. I'm usually looking at apple often to see when something news comes out but Ive drifted away recently and had no knowledge of the 4.0

29 NorthStarDC4M: If they wanted a leak they wouldn't of bricked the phone remotely... if it's a leak you want people to go gaga over all the cool new software on it.
30 ManuCH: Even if this is an Apple prototype, I'm pretty sure the outer case won't look like this. The design is very un-Apple-ish. The electronics might be it,
31 D L X: I agree. It's weird hearing people say how nice the case looks. It looks very cheap to me.
32 AirPacific747: I highly doubt this is the new iPhone as well. It doesn't look like Apple design. I think what would be more logical would be an iPhone in a unibody a

34 Silver1SWA: Well, Apple has claimed ownership of it so it appears it is an iPhone prototype.
35 ManuCH: Yes, it probably is a genuine Apple prototype. But the final iPhone probably won't look like this one. The casing looks temporary.
36 Silver1SWA: Right, it's a prototype. But I think the idea that this is a fake can be put to rest.

38 racko: ;D Rule of thumb: Check if Braun built something looking similar 30 years ago. If yes, it might very well be a Apple design.
