Totally mind blowing. I cam glad this teacher is being called out on this. What was this teacher thinking? Obviously an Obama fan but why the disdain toward teh flag or the term God Bless America? It's scary this person teaches kids. Really is. I hope FOX follows up on this. I saw MSNBC's piece today and you can tell they are going to bury it.

A teacher (an agent of the state) attempting to punish belief in God is what is offensive. While the state cannot advocate one religion (or any religion) over another or none, it must not be allowed to make belief in a religion something that is viewed as bad. To do so is to violate the plain meaning of the First Amendment.

I'm so sick and tired of atheist arguing that anything that offends them is bad, but anything that they do that offends someone else needs to be tolerated.

She told a young girl that writing "God Bless America" is offensive and then went to a student drawing a likeness of Obama and she said positive things. What is she?

Yep, I second that. Paging Benjamin Franklin here!

Man, every time I hear crap like this, I think of those guys (Franklin, Washington, Adams, etc). If they were alive today, I think we'd be in the midst of a massive civil war based on what has become of our country... Everything that we fought against to win our freedom is what this country is turning into IMO.

Immature? No really, immature...it has nothing to do with her views, it has to do with unfairly pushing her views on others. To me, that is a sign of immaturity. I believe that most mature adults understand that people will disagree with them, and just accept it. One side states their thoughts, the other states theirs, they agree to disagree and move on. People who cannot do that, who keep saying that someone else's opinion is wrong just because it is different, are immature in my book. That is the case with this teacher. Certainly not someone I would want teaching my children. If she has different views than me, great! If she pushes those views on my child and tells them everything else is wrong, not cool.

It's like watching CNN or MSNBC or FOX. They get two people who argue against each other until they are ready to take a gun to the other. My gosh, just accept that some people will have different views and move on. That's life...that's what is so great about America - you can have different views.

Every news which mentions President Obama deserves a thread here (according to certain A.net members).

According to this

http://www.thecalifornian.com/articl...hoolroom-flag-flap-may-be-baseless

The classroom incident appeared to be resolved, Brusa said, in April in a meeting between the Hathaways, a Gavilan View assistant principal and Saunders. The school heard no more of it, he said, until after May 5 — Cinco de Mayo.

On that day in Morgan Hill, five Live Oak High School students were asked to go home after they wore clothes bearing images of the flag. In a statement, the school district said that while awareness of other cultures is appropriate on Cinco de Mayo, it did not support the high school's action.

The episode drew widespread media attention and — according to Brusa — resurfaced in the Gavilan View classroom incident.

"As soon as the [Morgan Hill] story hit," he said, "the parent thought this was kind of similar and decided to Twitter Fox News, and that's where this all started.

And what the problem may have been...

"If something wrong was done to the student, we'll get to the bottom of that," Brusa said. "But it may have been they were working on the Yellow Ribbon project, which sends care packages to military in war zones. One of the requirements is that there is no writing on the flags. If that's the case, then there's been a huge misunderstanding here and a lot of needless turmoil and grief."

Reasons for prohibiting writing on a flag — on any topic — involve awareness of other cultures and of U.S. soldiers, Brusa said.

"If you have a flag with 'God bless America' over it in the middle of Iraq, or you're sending it to soldiers who aren't Christians, it could be a problem," he said.

So who knows? It looks like the teacher should have been more explicit about why there was a problem with the flag as drawn, but for it to go nuclear like this does seem rather OTT.

It seemed watching the mother and her daughter talk in Fox and MSNBC that the teacher would not say why she thought it was offensive. Obviously she doesn't want religion in the classroom and she should say this. The mother wants an apology and I think she and her daugher deserves one. If the teacher didn't want God in the classroom she could have went about it in another way.

Unfortunately it seems most college professors are trying to brainwash the young adults in this country into believing the far left agenda. It is a real shame. If we can't have religion in the classroom how come we are letting the professors force their beliefs on our kids?

Even if it's true, do you believe that they are actively trying to brainwash their students to follow their agenda? And why aren't many right-winger professors? Don't right-wingers believe in higher education?

Like how the Lame Stream Media ignored the devastating floods in Nashville...merely because we didn't cry out for the Gub'ment to hold our hand. We weren't out looting and stealing T.V.s knee deep in water. Being one of the costliest natural disasters in American History excluding Hurricanes, you'd think that was newsworthy...

The current climate here in the US has forced me to discard all labels, left, right, centrist, tea bagger, liberal...whatever.... I adopt the philosophy post 9/11.
