Hi All!
This saturday will be my band's first performance. We are called P.L.U.G. and it stands for People Living Under God. We are a Christian rock band and were formed the last weekend of march. This Saturday will be our first show, at Saturday Night Praise @ our church. I am the singer. We are extremely excited, and im a tad bit nervous but definately psyced. Any of you familiar with Praise and Worship songs, we will be singing "Trading My Sorrows". Just one song for the first time, during the offering. Our next set performance is June 5, when we lead praise and worship @ the joint Senior High/Junior High Youth Group meeting, which will be cool because its about 30-45 minutes of playtime. We're totally in this for God and have big dreams-we know he has big plans. Feel free to check us out on line!

Thanks!
Tony

I am so proud to hear of a young group of singers that is intent on praising our Lord and doesn't mind letting the rest of the world know about it! The very best to you all and I will remember you in my prayers that your performance goes not only well for you but that if He wills it someone is brought to Him because of you.

Skyhawk-Thankyou very much for your support and prayer! It means a lot. This band is a whole new experience for me-it forces me to let go of my fears and just give it all up for the Lord, and thats an amazing, yet sometimes scary thing to do!

Tony, giving up control of anything is difficult, much less giving up that control to someone who is not visible to you. When I got married that was hard enough, but to have given up control to God is much harder and I fight everyday in myself to maintain His presence in my life.

Tony,

My first performances ever were in churches. I do solo material, but it started at a Saturday-night worship service where I did one song, and then a few weeks later I did another during a regular Sunday-morning service.
Glad to hear you're getting started! Good luck!

Thank-you for your experiences and support. The last time i ever sang i solo was when i was 8 years old in a church choir. Since then i've always dreamed of being onstage, but was deathly afraid of having people hear me sing. I spent the next 8 years avoiding singing loud enough for people to hear, and what do i do. End up in a band! The Lord works in mysterious ways but I'm loving it and can't wait to feel what its like to be onstage on Saturday. Thanks Skyhawk for your response, how very true! Remembering that Im in this for Him can be a hard thing to do, thinking of things like personal fame/wealth in the future is easy to do! We just ask him everytime we pray before we practice, that he lead us where he wants us to go and help us to stay focused, its easy to think of wordly rewards when we know we should be singing to glorify the Heavenly ones. I'll let you know how it goes, and until then God Bless. Jesus Loves You and So Do I!  Smile {Youth Group Thing hehe}

Awesome Good Luck!
I have some bad news for all...and how coincidental it happens right after i post about our first show. PLUG is going to need MASSIVE amounts of prayer, it is a powerful thing, and we're having some big problems. Our guitar player told us today he is leaving after our first show. His brother is the drummer, eric. Eric told me today he(guitar player) is leaving because he doesnt want to play. Brett, guitar player, said he doesnt want to play because eric told him "he shouldnt be in the band", and even though David(the bass player) and I want him in the band, he doesnt want to be because he knows not everyone does. I havent talked to eric yet to see if this is true, but Brett wants this between him and eric only for now. I have no idea what to think or to believe...i just know im upset this is happening and going to try to do whatever i can to keep this band together. We are still playing saturday. but after that i refuse to get onstage until this is worked out. I dont want to become a band of three people that lost someone who is beyond talented, and has so much to offer. Especially if it can be prevented. And i dont want to be onstage knowing we are putting on a show, and just that. Because we have problems getting in the way of what we should be doing, glorifying God. Please, i just ask for prayer. Any advice would be appreciated too.

Hey...nice web page. You don't look like a rock band singer...hehe. Have you ever seen Skillet live? Now Karen (sp?) Cooper...John's wife....now theirs a woman of God who RAWKS....

As far as advice....I'd seek the counsel of your youth pastors....hopefully things will work out....but you need to seek God's will....not always an easy thing.

A local group of teens had a band for a while....one of the guys attended my church. They had problems like you are having....it's like....you have the problems of being a group of teens trying to get together and do something as one...and on top of that....you all need to feel right with God about it....I can see how it would be easy for it not to gel or feel quite right.

At the same time....the way those kids reached out to other kids....the difference they made for God....was something to behold. They played at our church camp a few times and it was great.

Perhaps after your first performance the band memebers will see what a great thing it is they are doing and figure out a way to put aside some personal issues for the greater good.

If your band doesn't work out....keep looking for other opportunities because using your musical talents for the Lord is a great thing. You can REALLY impact some lives with this....so don't be discouraged.

Thanks De727ups
Right now we are making some very real steps towards solving this and it looks like we will make this through intact. Definately a trial last night and today! Just time to move on let the dust settle and keep our eyes on God. I cant wait for Saturday. After this, i want it even more. And as to my picture...hehe, that would be Mandy Moore's picture because I dont have one of me on the computer. Oh well, she's nice to look at =P Anyways, we're just praying and moving on right now, guess its all we can do.
Tony
PS-have u seen Jars Of Clay live? They truly inspired me to do what im doing what now. Their show was amazing so was Jennifer Knapp who opened for them.

Just to let those who responded know-PLUG has broken up. We are playing tomorrow night and its over. I do not feel like walking up onstage tomorrow and singing, infact i dont feel like doing anything. Im a foolish foolish boy. I thought PLUG was going to be the rest of my life. I was halfway counting on it. Oh well. Sigh.

Tony: Play tomorrow night with all the passion that you showed in your early posts. Whatever happens, it will still be your first performance, and remember who you are doing it for.
One day you will look back and see this setback in a different perspective. Maybe talent and enthusiasm aren't enough to make it. Sometimes we also need strength and character, and maybe this is where God is really blessing you by providing you with a chance to grow and develop in these areas.
In the space of a dozen posts the band has had the world in front of it, developed a problem, overcome it, and now is ready to fold. It's all the blink of an eye my friend.
God is giving you a chance to be strong and grow in a way that you may not yet understand.
I hope your song is a wonderful experience for you, for your friends and for the people who hear you. Sorry I won't be there, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Regards
Bill
