"Apple IPhone Customers Are Delusional Liars"

Those who own an Apple (AAPL) iPhone be prepared to have your head explode. Highly regarded think-tank consultant Strand Consult has just released a report that may send shock waves through the iPeople. Apple iPhone users are a tad delusional and many even lie to protect their iPhones.

http://www.bloggingstocks.com/2009/1...ne-customers-are-delusional-liars/

Actually I find that easy to believe.. I have an iPhone myself, and I know many others that have iPhones as well. Some of those can't take criticism of the iPhone, or they will start defending it at all costs, regarding specs, durability, etc.

I felt kind of the same way when I had a MacBook Pro.

Is Apple really brainwashing its users?

I was never that bothered about Apple products ... until last Saturday when I bought the iPad, I have to say my first Apple product and Im really impressed. Sure it cant do some things you can you on a Netbook but the other features more than make up for it. For email/internet/Apps on the move it beats the Netbook. Ive had two netbooks and the slimline,10hour battery on the iPad is second to none. Also the staff in the Apple stores are so helpful and always willing to talk you through. I asked the guy a simple question that I probably could have searched for myself and he took me over to the demo area and talked me through the whole thing. Im that impressed by the product/service/after care etc.. that im now looking at a iMac for Christmas and Apple TV. Also going to get the new iPhone 4G/HD when it comes out.

Before I buy the iMac I need to make sure it does everything I need it to but been looking at demo videos and reviews and so far so good.

Watching HD Movies on the iPad is amazing, two collegues at work are buying them after seeing mine. I guess if you have a good quality product it sells itself.

I know there is the usual A v M sides here but I dont get involved in that and I dont have any side to which Im a fan of but the Apple products are well made and look sleek.

Sounds typical. I do like Macs for the simple fact is they are not as prone to viruses. Otherwise, I don't care one way or the other. I think, however, with all this to-do about the iPad and the iPhone 4.0 and all the other iStuff, there will probably be more viruses written for Macs. This report might boost that.

If Apple was making things wrong, no Stockholm syndrome would make people spend $$$$ time and time again on useless products.

But as a 29 year apple user maybe I have been hostage longer than I care to admit!

Over. Under isn't as aesthically pleasing as over. I've gone both ways.

"Brainwashing" is a little extreme. Apple builds quality products. Where the company really excels is in marketing those products. Having a rabid fan base helps in this regard.

Yep. Its amazing what they will buy once Steve tells them they NEED it. Just like when their AppleTV flopped, Steve proclaims thats because the DVR, and "box devices" are dead. So naturally, its dead because Steve said so..

On another note, the other day became a first-time buyer of an Apple product. That's right, I have resisted everything from the iPod to the iPad. But I have succumbed to the dark side and purchased an iPod touch. Granted, it's the first generation (no built in speaker) so I got it dirt cheap from a friend.

Did any of the responders here actually read the report?

Not the news item but the synopsis of the report linked in that item?

There was a list of queries and responses, I am sure many of us have asked some of those questions and received similar answers.
I am equally sure that some of the faithful here have used those responses, likely even on this site.

Cheers

It's very easy for me to believe this report, even without reading a single word of it. I am an avid PC user, i've always hated macbooks, and IMacs, basically anything to do with Macs. As much I hate how flawed my dell PC is, I would defend it to the death when it comes to arguing with the owner of a Mac. Even when I know Macs are 100 times better than PCs, and I'm getting my ass handed to me in a PC to Mac comparison, I will still defend it. I always hated the Apple commercial with one guy as the Mac and the other as the PC. If it wasn't for my Ipod touch, I would know nothing about Macs or Apple for that matter. As a matter of fact, it was painful for me to read that thread about Apple overtaking Microsoft.

All in all, I'm a PC for life, no matter how much better Macs get. So i find it easy to believe that an Iphone user would defend it vehemently because as much as we can be honest to ourselves about the products we own being flawed, we don't like to let others know that our own item is flawed.

Oh please, I love my iphone. But it's the only apple product I have, and I don't consider myself to be part of the apple fanbase. Neither did I sleep in front of the store to get it on the first day, nor will I get the latest model when it comes out.

If anyone says he doesn't like the Iphone, then why should I be bothered by it? Let alone suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome! All I know is that I love it and I didn't regret buying it. This article makes no sense to me at all.

He’s showing the HD video shot and edited in iMovie. It looks really impressive and detailed.

11:01
He adds a music track and hits playback. It’s a combination of still images and videos. You can choose from 5 different themes, such as Travel.

Then you can export all the way up to 720p HD. Recorded, edited and rendered all completely on the phone.

10:59
iMovie for iPhone: You can choose from existing clips and photos on the device. He picks a clip, adds a photo. The media is shown in a timeline at bottom. You can tap to add a transition between media files.

He adds a title: “Our California Vacation”. The clip puts San Francisco in there, because geolocation has sensed that automatically.

10:57
iMovie for iPhone — Apple has written an iPhone app for movie editing. Randy Ubillos, chief architect of video apps, is on stage.

“I’ve been working on video editing software for a long time…” Final Cut, new iMovie and now iMovie for iPhone. He’s showing us a demo.

But that’s not all: it records HD video, says Steve. 720 p at 30 frames per second. “It’s real HD video.”

Tap to focus video
Built-in video editing
One-click sharing
LED Flash will stay on to illuminate scenes for video recording.

There are and a whole new batch of kool-aid.

As a photographer I have some understanding of optics and a little understanding of how sensors in digital cameras work, can someone tell me what a backlit sensor is, how it works and how it aids the photographic process?

A little more detail than-- "Magical", "Revolutionary" or "Steve said so" would be nice although unexpected!

Cheers

EDIT, I will leave this question here out of interest but in reality it belongs in a different thread.

This seems to be the operative point:

Quote:
The advanced backside illumination sensor allows you to shoot low-light photos that are brighter and clearer than ever before.

Apparently referring to improved automatic exposure control in low-light situations.

According to Jobs the sensor pixel size remained identical while the resolution has been increased (meaning larger total sensor area) and the lens appears to be significantly larger too, so together with probably improved sensor technology it should be expected that noise levels in low-light situations should be improved indeed.

I know and work with a lot of people that fall victim to the Apple hype. Every new product is a must-have for them. It's quite sad and makes me laugh. But with that said, I do like some apple products. The only apple product I own is an iPod Touch and after owning it for a year now, I find myself wanting the added features the iPhone offers. My cell contract is up with Verizon this summer so now would be a great time to switch for the iPhone. The only problem is I hate AT&T's service here where I live. So I have a decision to make.

Anyway, I understand this idea of brainwashing and the obsessiveness of the Apple followers... I was once a "hater" until I actually got some hands on experience with a couple products. Apple does make some desireable products and some people do genuinely want them because they like what it has to offer.

Not really. Back in the late 90's/ early/mid 00's Dell actually made a decent, reasonably priced computer. Now with all their outsourcing, quality has dropped, but it wasn't always like that.

I know, I was a happy Dell users during those days and used great customer service in both the US and on business in Australia.

But then they did go super cheap and after a week of misery I moved to Apple because they had the top rated customer service. (I did have an X-Series ThinkPad for a while, loved it but the tech support was really arrogant.)

BTW, the Dell notebooks I bought were within the same price range as the PowerBook I switched to. That was "back in the day".

No thanks. I'm not really interested in the iPad. I left out in my previous post that in addition to wanting the iPhone features that the iTouch lacks, I want to combine my cell phone and my iTouch instead of carrying both with me everywhere I go. The iPhone is the solution to that.
