Computer Issue (Control Button Is Mad)

Hello fellow anetters,

This is the biggest forum I am a member of so I thought I would bring my problem here to see if anyone has any pointers. All of a sudden, perhaps 2 weeks ago my computer has decided to play about with my Ctrl button. The best way to explain it is that none of my Ctrl commands work any more (Ctrl+C/V/F/A) and instead of doing what they normally do the computer now either opens up a new window of Google Chrome or whatever browser I am using at the time. Sometimes it also mutes the sound on the computer.

Does anyone have any inkling what might have happened? I have tried three virus scans using AVG and all 3 came back clear.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a different keyboard? Perhaps the keyboard is busted and needs replacement.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Use the on screen keyboard; this can be found by in the start section on the lower left; Start - All Programs - Accessories - Accessibility, then left click on the on screen keyboard.

Hope this helps

I think the real issue is with the toolbar it puts into the browser. I would just go to your view-->toolbars window and disable the Google ones until you can adapt to their command overrides.

Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

There are usually two Ctrl buttons. If only one is going crazy, I'd say it's a hardware failure, be it dirt or broken down contact. If the two of them behave oddly, I'd go with keyboard configuration or auto installed add ons or cr*p messing up with your configuration.

Quoting NWOrientDC10 (Reply 2):

Thanks I will use that if I need to though I am managing to copy and paste by right clicking at the moment.

Both Ctrl buttons are corrupted unfortunately.
