Alright, so I thought Dog the Bounty Hunter was a crazy guy. But this Operation Repo has me seriously thinking that 90% of these repo's are made up. Does anyone else agree that much of this stuff is made up to get ratings? Guys dressed in clown outfits, couples in lingerie and leathers, raging lunatics with guns, and baseball bats galore. Don't get me wrong, there is going to be some crazy repo's, but I think they are taking this a little to the extreme. Oh yeah, and the bald dude constantly fighting people, and the people usually fighting him are half his size? I smell bull poop!

I'm pretty sure it's confirmed this show is scripted. They sure go to great pains to let you know that, though, don't they? The acting is horrible, the plots ridiculous....it's like watching a train wreck. You know it's bad, but you can't turn away.

Ironic it shows on a network called "tru tv"....

I thought I have seen low class before, but these people take the cake.
Supposedly the show is based on reenactments of actual experiences of the people on the show.

I couldn't watch the show anymore because I was afraid the fat woman with the blonde pig tail hair would have her mumu blow up in the wind. Then I'd have to burn my eyes out.

I like "bait car" much better.

It's scripted. Probably the only way to make it even remotely interesting.

Yeah, Bait Car definitely has a sense of reality to it.

There's a repo show in National Geographic that sort of the same thing.

According to Wikipedia:

Quote:
Operation Repo consists of scripted re-enactments where the team is often confronted by actors portraying debtors and police officers in the repossessions.

I researche it and found only one or two blogs about how much they hate the show that said it is scripted. The repo people say on the show that these are the 5% to 10% of repos they do and that most people are very calm and quiet about the whole thing.

It is like watching a train wreck, only less entertaining. I can't stand the show myself. I would rather watch Big Bang Theory, but that is on at the same time and my partner just has to watch Operaton: Repo. I can not figure out for the life of me why, either! He has been watching since the beginning. He even tried to get the number of the repo company when we went to LAX last year.

Then, if he always watches it, at the start he will see a notice saying that it is not real.

The one that says the names have been changed? Where does it also say it is not real? I have read that thing hundreds of times and still have yet to see where it says it is not a reality show.

Not only that, but what about the innocent bystanders that call 911 just out of the blue? I have seen a few episodes where people that have nothing to do with anything calling 911 and real, honest LAPD officers in real LAPD cop cars with real LAPD weapons show up. Seems pretty fake to me!

It is fake. At the start of the show it says that the stories are based on real situations.

Have you ever watched Punked? They have some pretty real looking cops and uniforms arrive at the scene. Only to be actors dressed up like cops.

Punked they look fake. But, on OpRepo, they are very very real cops. Look at the cop cars with the official seal and official lights and official cage in the back seat. Really? A fake cheap show on a two-bit network would reallly spend that much on fake cops? Really?

Yeah its scripted, but I don't know why I love it. I religiously watch it everyday on the Outdoor Life Network (not sure why its on that channel...) at 5 and 9 (if I missed the 5 airing.)

It's trashy, loud, obnoxious, but I can't turn away.

I figured it was scripted. I seriously can't watch it anymore, because it is so obnoxious. I am hooked on Pawn Stars, The First 48 (oh man, just love it!), and sometimes I watch Dog the Bounty Hunter (kinda fun to watch fugitives captured, just think they are seriously crazy walking around with a pepper ball gun). Speaking of pepper ball guns, if anyone showed up in my backyard with one of those, I would shoot them first and ask questions later. Not smart at all. I know they can't carry real firearms because of the felony thing, but they are just barking up the dangerous trees carrying something around like that.

I am seriously am leaning towards scripted. I understand your argument, but I just don't see constant repo action like this. I have arrested over 1,000 bad guys and gals in my life, and maybe 10 of those were crazy. I have also repossessed a few cars here and there, and they were all peaceful. All you need is a crown vic bought from a auction for under a grand, add some strobes and a light bar for a few hundred, and hit a uniform shop for a LAPD uniform. Less than 2k, and you have yourself a real looking police car and police man. Decals or stickers can be made with the technology we have today.

If it's the same show i'm thinking of, the few times i saw it, i thought it was entertaining, but some of the things they did and said made no sense from a real world perspective. Like the head repo guy telling someone whose car they were repossessing: "Just work it out with your finance company and you'll have the car back in a few days" or "Just give me the keys." Since when do they need keys? and since when do they think these people who are being repossessed upon are going to get the car back? Once they take the car, it's gone, it goes up for auction to pay off the note.

Then again, from what i understand, the way a reposession actually works, tow truck with ex-con in passenger's seat rolls up on the car, slides the tow bar under the wheels and drives away with it, all of that taking less than 5 minutes, probably wouldn't make for very good tv so they have to dramatize it.

Why are people so against low yields?! If lower yields means more people can travel abroad, i'm all for it
