Paxman should avoid angering Blair if he really wants to kebab him, the only time Blair really gets into conviction mode is when he's pissed-off.
A few years ago a left-wing Labour activist at a televised Q & A session made the rather silly declaration that Blair had sold out by 'spending the social security budget bombing Yugoslavia'.
Blair was visibly angry, and rubbished the claim before listing what he considered to be his goverments positive policies towards the less fortunate, he was still quite polite and controlled. but really put the activist in her place.
For a moment you saw possibly the real Blair, so different from the image control.
I thought at the time he'd do better to be like that more often.
However, despite the overbearing image control, British politcians still get a regular grilling by good interviewers.
It's up to the BBC to prevent us going too far down the US road, where Presidential candidates get a very gentle time on TV interviews.
But Paxman is dangerous, remember his demolishing of William Hauge during the election last year.

Labour - For A Fairer Britain
That would imply a return to socialist old-labour compared to 'New Labour'.Something that John Prescott deeply wants I suspect.Isnt inequality part and parcel of the 'New Labour' model?

A few years ago, my then girlfriend was on a London Underground train, she was seated, and Jeremy Paxman got on.
As all the seats were taken, he stood. Judith recognised him, and Paxman caught her looking at him. He winked at her!
Around the same time, he was to interview some bloke from the 'Campaign For Real Ale', the guy didn't look like a beer anorak stereotype, but Paxman started the interview with;
"You're just a........boring old fart aren't you?"
He didn't seem to mind!
