I am using Blogspot to post a trip report of sorts. I made a trip around San Francisco Bay by rail and I wanted to write about it and include pics. I uploaded the pics to Photobucket and tried to use their HTML code by copy and paste to include the pics on the blog. However, when I look at the blog, all I see is the HTML code instead of the pic. Are the two sites not compatable? Is there something I did wrong? Here is one of the pics I tried to use It is the CalTrain maintenance yard in Santa Clara

I also keep a blog on Blogger / blogspot.

I always use the blogger photo add. It's a bit cumbersome but it's easier to me than uploading elsewhere and then referencing. I think it also slows the loading of the blog too if you reference a different site.

Google reintroduced a more integrated approach to Blogger with their family of products. They have there own photo website and software called Picasa. I do not know the functionality of Picasa as it applies to Blogger.

Did you "close" the reference with the carrot-slash-a-carrot? It's easy for HTML to get separated.

I've also noticed that when trying to customize the template, the code can get hinky real easily.

Cheers,
Cory

Make sure you paste the HTML into the "code view" of the blogspot / blogger post text box. Put the cursor where you want the picture in the normal view, click "code view", and the cursor should be in the right spot - just paste, switch back to normal, and make sure its all ok!

The above post is my opinion. Don't like it? Don't read it.

Yes, I did a simple copy and paste from Photobucket to the place within the text I wanted the pic.

I always assumed HTML reads a bit like a palandrome. That is: what is at the front also has to be at the back. I checked that before publishing and all the carrots and slashes and "a" were all there it looked like to me.

To help out, even though it looks stupid with all the "explosed" HTML, I still published it, so maybe this will help: http://seb146.blogspot.com/

I checked out your blog and your html is all screwy for the images

For a an image to work in HTML, you need this thing:

"left carrot" A HREF="http link" "right carrot" ***IMAGE APPEARS HERE*** "left carrot" slash a "right carrot"

I would try uploading the photos individually to blogger and then move around. Maybe also check out their new blog editor. It's nearly as functional as Microsoft Word, IMO

not quite a palendrome but it does need to open and close. You open with an action and you close it by putting a slash in front of it.

You can check out my blog through my profile, if you'd like.

The few times I've added pics on Blogspot from pics on Photobucket, I changed the "[ ]" on Photobucket to "" when on Blogspot. It's worked the few times I've done that on my blog.

That is for a hyperlink to the picture - you need img instead of a.

I didn't realize imageshack used [IMG] type tags, which are for many popular forums, and not true HTML, which is less-than img greater-than.

Here's a link to what you need. http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/483470/

Copy the text, and replace the stuff inside the

src="REPLACE STUFF HERE"

, leaving the double quotes, with whatever the URL to your picture is. Make sure you use the URL to the picture itself, e.g. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/canucksin04/th_Photo0491.jpg , not the link that has the "action=view&t=Photo.jpg" stuff in it - especially because whatever you pasted onto your blog has a corrupted character in it.

Hopefully that helps

I started playing around with some of the suggestions you all gave and I got thumbnails to work! Thank you all so much. I have some things to do in "the real world" but I will clean all this up and it should be ready by tomorrow, if you want to see the finished product. Again, thanks for all your help!

My advice is switch to WordPress ( either self hosted or the free wp.com ) . It is far more powerful, stylish, SEO optimized and much easier to use.

Everyone has their own personal favorite. I picked Blogspot because that is the only one I knew of. If I do another blog with pics, I might try that one.

I got all the HTML squared away. I think one problem I had is when I was origionally writing the blog, I was also posting the HTML with it. I realized only last night there is a different tab for editing HTML. Typical guy thing: Don't read the directions!
