Hi all -
I've read numerous blogs and articles online in the past couple days about this. I'm possibly going to visit Egypt for the first time next week.
I'd like to know if anyone here has been there during Ramadan and could give me an idea as to how inconvienced a first-time tourist might be.
By all means, I do welcome the chance to see things that I wouldn't see in Egypt any other time of the year that go along with Ramadan. I just want to be informed before I commit to this trip since there will be some things that could make a trip there more difficult.
From what I can tell, train schedules might change a bit but not too much, public transportation is reduced a bit but still operates, and most of the museums are still open albeit with a closing time of an hour or two earlier than the rest of the year.
So, if you live in Egypt, or you went there during Ramadan, I'd appreciate any tips you have. We won't be there in the last few days of the "Eid" when apparently traveling is significantly more difficult -- this year, that day is September 9 and we'd be gone several days prior.
