SO I just paid my first phone bill that I have in my name. I have recently been paying for another phone in my mom's name, but my credit was approved from AT&T a few months ago and I now have a phone in my name that i'm paying for, so hopefully I can continue to build my credit.

First phone bill:
-$159.86
Paying off for previous phone:
-$39.98
Monthly payment on new phone:
-$82.00
Feeling independent (Not really worth much at that price per month)

Being broke as a joke now, but knowing I get paid tomorrow, PRICELESS!!!

Wow that is a lot.... What kind of services do you get? I only pay $36.95 a month, but I don't use the internet on my phone. The highest bill I ever had was this past summer when I made a bunch of calls from the UK to the US. My bill was $259. I shouldn't be allowed to use my phone when I'm drunk! Oh well, I paid my bill and probably did not learn my lesson.

Get used to it! I was always broke at your age. As long as I had enough money for food and beer I was good.

Well congratulations! I remember when I had my first phone line in college and I called up a buddy of mine long-distance. He proudly read my name off the Caller ID when he answered. That was big in those days. Of course that was when people heavily relied on landlines, Caller ID was still optional and we had to pay separately for long-distance calls.

Have you ever seen "The Jerk"? There is a scene in it that goes along with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOTDn2A7hcY Enjoy!

Those were the days. I am the last of my friends with a land line. I don't plan on giving it up either. I like to hold on to the past a bit, even if it costs $30 a month.

Classic movie!

I rememebr when I got my first phone and paid the bill, came out to $112.79. Earlier this year was my first foray outside the airlines by opening my Travel Agency. It was cool when I was at home and one of my staff called me the morning the phone lines got connected. I fell out of bed and laughed my ass off at the feeling of accomplishment. Cheesy, eh?

I have an iPhone and I have to pay for a Data plan of $25 which is internet and other extras. This option is non-negotiable with an iPhone. plus a regular phone bill of $39.99, plus text message fees of $15 , with taxes it rounds out about $82-85 per month.

Lucky for you!

I pay for wireless service for my entire family (4 Smartphones). Over $220+ a month. Exciting times.

Yep, this was a big step for me too. Does anyone else think it is ridiculous how much Americans pay for cell phones and broadband? I welcome any new competition to either market.

Enjoy this time now. Soon, you'll have to deal with such entities as utility bills, car payments, rent, loan payments, groceries, etc, etc., so on and so forth.

It was about 3 months after starting working full-time that I realized, with dismay, that the bills keep coming every month. Rent, Utilities, CC, cellphone, cable, car payments, food. It doesn't stop. Good luck, futurepilot!

I just started that as well. No fun. It made me realize how expensive some of that stuff is and why my parents said no. Now I get to look forward to paying real bills. Yuck.

Grats buddy, welcome to grown up life :P Now couple that with the cost of living!

Btw, get rid of ATT as I have. I have been with them for many years and I finally said FU. I switched to sprint, got the HTC EVO ( much better than the icrap) and now i am paying 69$/mo UNLIMTED EVERYTHING.

Cant stand the ass rape with ATT.
