I'm currently in Nashik working on a project but was just informed this morning that I have 3 free days this weekend (Friday to Sunday) because of Diwali celebrations, and was deciding between going to Mumbai or to Delhi (and Taj); I don't know if Mumbai would be a good choice with the presidential visit going on and all the security hassles, and for Delhi I was looking at flights and the prices are above 15,000 rupees RT from Mumbai to Delhi.

I will be in India for at least until the end of the month but I only have one day off per week so I really want to make a good use of this long weekend, any help will be greatly appreciated.

What do you recommend?

Thank you

Mumbai will probably be painful in parts where Obama is, but the rest of the city should be fine and so should the touristy spots close by.

Diwali is India's big festival and holiday. If going to DEL+Taj is expensive, it may be a good idea to head to Goa. Given your short time in India, I would suggest the DEL + Taj trip.

My advice, just get outside and enjoy the happy atmosphere. I'd love to be in India around now.

Mumbai and Delhi are both great places, if you want to make use of the weekend and you're not finding this too late, a Taj Mahal trip might be worth it.

Get to Mumbai & drive down to Matheran or Mahableshwar....Great places.
